This Laurent Giles 60' Sailing Ketch was built in 1984 by Picchiotti in Italy, and designed by Laurent Giles.  She has an aluminium hull and superstructure, with armour glass windows in stainless steel framing, S-shaped semi long keel white hull with blue trim striping, and new stainless steel dorades.

Her owners purchased her at the beginning of 2018, and are selling as she is a little too large and does not quite suit their requirements. She has been well looked after and is ready to set sail with her new owners.

As with any older boat with some TLC is to be expected but she is ready to go to sea tomorrow and an opportunity to acquire a stunning classic at a great price. Her hull was surveyed with ultrasonic meter in January and found to be in very good condition with no deterioration of the aluminium. Aluminium boats are incredibly strong and light and, as long as care is taken with dissimilar metals, do not corrode. Her anodes are in good condition and she has an isolation transformer to prevent damage from stray shore power currents as well as a galvanic isolator.

Mechanical

This Laurent Giles 60 S is powered by a Mercedes 6 cylinder 130hp diesel engine, from 1983 and overhaules in 1993. She has 2148 engine hours. 

She also features a Hunderstadt variable pitch propeller (pitch control not currently working properly), indirect water cooling system, and a Vetus 24 V heavy duty electric bow thruster (new batteries in 2018). 

This Laurent Giles 60 has a cruising speed under power of 7kts, with a range of approximately 1,050nm (at 6kts 1500nm)

She has a 2kva Panda generator from 1993 (fully rebuilt in 2004) and a new main alternator.

Sails And Rigging

This Ketch-rigged Laurent Giles 60 features a keel-stepped 2 spreader white aluminium Rondal mainmast; a deck-stepped 1 spreader white painted aluminium Rondal Mizzen mast; and Rondal stainless steel wire rigging.

There is Rondal electric hydraulic in mast furling on the mainmast and mizzen. Also recent Furlex units on both headsails.

Her sail wardrobe includes:

• In-mast furling mainsail 53 m2 Dacrongr. crosscut cloth with 5 full size vertical carbon battens and UV ply
• In-mast furling mizzen 20,73 m2 450 gr crosscut dacron with 4 full size vertical carbon battens and uv-ply
• Furling genoa 78,5 m2 tri radial DYS07 with new UV strip just fitted
• Staysail make and size unknown but in good condition.

There are also two Navtec manual hydraulic backstay adjusters and two Rondal fixed boom vangs.

Winches include:

• 2 Lewmar electric hydraulic 55 2-speed self tailing primary sheet winches
• 2 x Lewmar 43 - speed self tailing secondary sheet winches
• 2 x Lewmar 30 2-speed self tailing additional cockpit winches

On the mainmast all Lewmar self tailing halyard winches o.w. 2 single speed:

• 2 x type 16,
• 2 x type 46,
• 1 x type 43

On the mizzen: 2 x type 30 halyard winches.

Accommodation

Accommodation for 7 people is provided on board this Laurent Giles 60S Ketch.

There is an owner's stateroom aft with a double berth, which can be also converted to two single berths if preferred. The owner's cabin features an ensuite bathroom with manual toilet, wash basin with locker space and a separate shower cubicle. 

There is a second guest cabin in the forepeak with a double V-berth and large overhead hatch. 

To port is a further bunk cabin with 2 single berths, a further single berth is provided in the saloon. 

There is also a spacious guest bathroom located to starboard with manual toilet, wash basin and separate shower cubicle.

Saloon And Galley

This Laurent Giles 60 S is finished with a traditional teak and walnut interior, providing between 1,85 m and 2,10m headroom.

The saloon boasts a large U-sofa around a beautiful apple wood table, with blue wool upholstery and to port a sofa also with blue wool upholstery.

The galley is located between the saloon and the owner's cabin aft. The galley is well equipped with a three compartment refrigerator and freezer 24v driven and with holding plates, a new domestic 3-burner gas stove with oven and grill, a double stainless steel sink, lots of locker space, an extractor, microwave oven, foot pump, and water pressure system.

Central heating is partially fitted with Eberspacher hydronic hot water heating via radiators and blower. The heating is functional but requires a couple more radiators to be complete.

Eberspacher also heats hot water in a 90ltr calorifier with immersion heater as well. The is a new high power water pump and calorifier provide great water pressure for showers.
