About this Lagoon 42
The Lagoon 42 has a strong resemblance to the Lagoon 52. While it retains the main features of the new generation of Lagoons, it sports a beautiful and elegant silhouette. The mast was moved far aft to re-center the weight which greatly reduces pitching. With a self-tacking genoa and much smaller boom, sail-handling is made a lot easier for short -handed sailing or for a couple.
The open transoms and one-level living space from cockpit into the saloon is new for Lagoon and provides a nice unobstructed living area. The saloon and cockpit are huge areas with lots of lounging space everywhere. The raised helm is closed in by a sliding door The Lagoon 42 is yet another powerful and dynamic design by VPLP.The Highlights
The cockpit is open and very spacious.
The scoops or transom steps have wide and shallow steps that makes boarding from a dinghy very easy.
The semi-raised helm is safe, and one has easy access to the coach roof.
The boom is low enough for easy access and a self-tacking jib.
The composite Bimini has a sliding panel for a good view of the sails.
The catamaran has good bridge deck clearance.
The steps to the semi-raised helm are sturdy and safe with hand holds everywhere.
The interior is very nice with a fairly nice size saloon and one of the best catamaran galley designs, a U-shaped galley.
It offers good storage.
The beam is 25.3 Feet which allows for good size cabins and walk-around island beds.
The mast is moved further aft, much like the Lagoon 52 and will reduce pitching.
With the boom further aft, the boom is shorter, but it has a high aspect mainsail with a square top providing good sail area aloft.
The fore-triangle is thus bigger which allows for a bigger self-tacking genoa and bigger sails for downwind sailing

AN ERGONOMIC HELMING STATION.
At the coach roof bulkhead, offering many advantages: direct communication between the cockpit and saloon, improved circulation, forward and aft of the helming station, direct access to the coach roof for easier access to the boom, a composite Bimini with a sliding panel to ensure a good view of the sails, a closure panel or helming station safety when under way.

A single level from the aft platform to the saloon: a structural "revolution", entirely new ergonomics that ensure excellent use of space and ease of circulation on board, a large glazed door that occupies the entire width of the coach roof and provides access to the unparalleled internal volumes. The suspended steps at the transom provide a whole new perception of the boat: a continuous, wide and inviting platform, worthy of a large vessel.
