Looking for a luxurious and spacious three level Motoryacht? This 68 Silver Star was laid at the Kha Shing yard in 1989 and offers all the conveniences of a large single family residence. The salon is full beam, and measures roughly 30' by 18'. There is a 4K LED TV, Definitive Technology 5.1 channel surround sound system with M&K subwoofer, a comfortable L-shaped couch, a day desk and lots of open space. This main living area can accommodate a fairly large crowd, and the galley is sectioned off to starboard with plenty of counterspace and bar seating. A full size refrigerator/freezer, electric range with convection oven, microwave, dishwasher, and trash compactor provide all the conveniences you've come to appreciate. Rest easy offshore with a Village Marine watermaker! There is also a day head on this level between the helm and galley.
The helm is just forward with full controls, excellent vantage and egress from both port and starboard.
Stepping down on a circular staircase you arrive at the forward master stateroom with island king bed and ensuite full head. Aft and to port is the crews quarters with dual bunks and its own ensuite full head. To starboard, next to the crew accommodations is the engineer's workshop, which contains work benches, toolboxes, cabinets, as well as the fuel polishing/ transferring equipment. This area was originally a gym/ workout room, which was converted to a stateroom by a former owner, and is now a workshop. It includes a fully functional enclosed sauna. To port of the workshop is the laundry room and aft of this is the engine room.
Back up on the main level, off the starboard side of the salon, you step down a separate aft staircase to the master stateroom with island king bed, plenty of storage, a desk and ensuite head with full tub/shower. Both forward and aft stateroom heads are Raritan Marine Elegance toilets on Purasan EX treatment systems. The crews’ quarters head is also an Elegance toilet, but it and the Quiet Flush Toilet in the day head discharge into a center holding tank.
Spaciousness is the key word on this yacht! Aft of the salon is the aft deck, complete with a table and chairs, bar sink and ice maker and a boarding ladder down to the swim platform.
The top flybridge level is massive, with seating to port and starboard, and expansive canvas bimini with removable eisenglass window panels.
Mechanically and electronically this vessel has undergone significant restoration and updating. You will enjoy doing some finishing touches projects to make this beauty your own, but most of the laborious and costly work has already been done professionally to impeccable standards.
The salon windows have been updated to modern, direct glazed tempered glass. A substantial reduction in sound leakage was achieved through this, and the new windows will never leak (this was a $20,000 project, completed in 2018). The pilothouse windows were removed, overhauled, and re-bedded into the boat also in 2018.
The superstructure has been recently painted.
Twin Detroit Diesel 8V92TA 735 horsepower engines with Allison marine drives power this vessel. The 3-blade bronze props spin on 2 1/2" stainless shafts. Engine hours are approx. 2500. Included is an extra set of 4-blade props that were recently overhauled and balanced. There is a bow thruster installed, and a stern thruster that can be installed at the next haul out.
The main engine’s cooling systems were overhauled in 2019, alternators and all starting system DC cabling replaced in 2018, and all fuel lines and filters (modern, 2 micron spin ons) were replaced in 2020. Most every single hose on the vessel has been replaced since 2015. The tanks carrying 1200 gallons of fuel were recently opened, cleaned, sandblasted, and epoxy lined which was a $25,000 project in 2017! The polishing/transfer system allows for fuel to be filtered (to aviation spec, .3 micron level with water absorbing media), as well as to move fuel from side to side, which greatly eases fueling activities.
The stainless steel 400-gallon potable water system was modernized with dedicated hot/cold manifolds and the majority is Wirsbo Aquapex plumbing. The hot water heater was replaced in 2017.
A Cummins/Onan 20KW genset provides 120V/ 240V AC power while away from the dock. The genset has been modernized with DynaGen controls and recently received a full service, including the heat exchanger being replaced, new exhaust mixing elbow, and all new hoses. Genset hours are roughly 3000.
There are dual port and starboard 50A shore power connectors. The dedicated 240V service can be separated from the 120V panels if dual shore supplies are available at the marina.
A 1000 amp-hour AGM house battery bank (comprised of four 8D batteries) is charged by a Magnum pure sinewave 2800W inverter/charger, which also provides refrigeration power when the genset is not running. All major DC wiring has been replaced since 2015. Climate control is provided by 5 separate, direct expansion systems with reverse cycle heat.
She was last hauled and surveyed in 2021 and is due in the coming year for bottom paint.
As previously mentioned, there are some unfinished projects, mainly involving interior joinery work, which would be a great way to add your personal touch to this lovely yacht.
Bacchus II would make an incredible live aboard or fabulous touring coastal or blue water cruiser. Over $100,000 has been spent on improvements within the last 5 years. She's in good shape now, but with another $50k-$100k smartly invested she would truly look and perform like a much more expensive vessel.
Thirteen foot dinghy with 15 horsepower engine may be available.
