HISTORY & CONSTRUCTION:
KELTISLE IV was the last design of the late John Bain (1890 – 1981) bespoke for first owners Tony & Rita Denton of Surrey. Official number: 703769 Registered Tonnage: 14 31/100 Purchased by the current owner some 20 years ago and currently lying in Holland. Constructed in Guernsey by Thornes Marine from 1978 to 1981, built of Iroko on oak frames with teak laid decks. Full-length keel with integral iron ballast keel, together with a pair of mild steel bilge keels. Fitted with conventional shaft logs and stern gear, together with a single mild steel plate rudder. The wheelhouse and aft cabin of teak construction, teak brightwork. KELTISLE IV is bermudian sloop-rigged, fitted with a roller furling headsail and roller furling main. The internal accommodation consists of a bosun’s store forward together with a forward stateroom containing 2 large berths, together with hanging space, a separate WC and opposite the WC (port side) a washbasin, all original in unique green tiles. Step’s lead up to the wheelhouse and sliding doors and hatches to both port and starboard sides. The helm station is located at the port side and fitted with a steering compass, engine instruments and controls. Steps lead down to the galley, to starboard settee/berth and a large teak dining table & storage area, hang clothes etc. Built-in cd/radio player, speakers and lamps. The galley fitted with a new fridge, about a year ago also contains a four-ring gas hob, a microwave oven and a sink. Drawers, pantry and crockery lockers with countertop over. Dinner sets and kitchen accessories go with the yacht design if required. PERKINS 50hp 4108 DIESEL ENGINES (1980) located under the wheelhouse sole, along with batteries, water & fuel tanks. The engines have been very little used. Cruising speed about 8 knots. Francis electric anchor windlass with chain. In 2018 a new 4 person life raft fitted, along with all the other extras, wooden bench, and some clocks, compass dials etc inside the cabin. Mast and sails, new a few years ago. Full list of all equipment purchased to hand to the new owner along with some newspaper clippings and history of KELTISLE IV. OWNERS COMMENT: KELTISLE IV is a beautiful motor yacht which has been very well maintained and loved, unfortunately, due to ill health this last year, she missed out on some of her usual yearly maintenance, so has a bit of varnish/paint peeling in places. But all is in full working order to our knowledge.
BROKERS NOTE: A rare opportunity to purchase the last design by the well known and respected Silver’s naval architect John Bain. A sturdy, well-built and maintained, quality motor yacht with an auxiliary Bermudian rig and twin diesel engines. Comfortable accommodation for extended cruising and living aboard.
