About this Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 42i
A modern, well-balanced hull that does not disappoint those who love cruising, but also gives emotions to the convinced sailor. On board, each manoeuvre can be carried out effortlessly In nautical there are successful and winning models, which become best sellers and references in the used. The Sun Odyssey 42i is a well-guessed and very current project. The Sun Odyssey range has always been the most balanced response of the French shipyard for cruising, in competition with the Oceanis range. Over time the line has evolved slightly in shapes and aesthetics, maintaining that taste of classic beauty and proportionate lines. (YPI) Inthe range was launched with the prism process, hence the letter I added after the name. The structure of the hull is with banded counterblade, then abandoned on the other models of the range that will only be glued, making the whole more delicate to impacts. It is fast with a medium light displacement and modest volume in the extremities, has a cast-iron drift with bulb and a rudder long enough for the mean. The vents are modest by optimizing the length of the float and the sail plane offers a medium-sized genoa (120 percent), also tied to the walled moors. Optimal for airworks, the Performance version with about 50 cm of extra tree and a lighter ballast of about 200 kg and with the draft going from 2.10 m to 2.30, the arm is always a 9/10 with sartiame in dyform only for this version. The revolution of the boat, such as to make it highly sought after, is in the two wheels of the rudder and the wide cockpit. If this element a dozen years ago was a forcing, as in Bruce Farr's Sun Odyssey 51 of the 1990s, today the solution looks like an advantage. The blanket is simple, rational, wide passing, the genoa scalsboard passes between the low rigging and the vertical. The teak coating is glued. The anchor's locker is quite large and it is not uncommon to mount the bowswithe with a few minor modifications. The scaldas of the genoa are deferred to the wheelonements and the benches of the locker have the seat shaped. The equipment is all Harken or Facnor, the Lewmar oints lowered.
