This Huckins 44 'Atlantic' has a modern fiberglass interpretation of the original Huckins 'Quadraconic' hull, one of the first planing hull forms ever designed. She is equipped with modern systems and conveniences while maintaining the lines, character, and soul of her classic heritage.
Her layout flows from the teak lined aft cockpit up into her spacious, fully enclosed bridge deck, stepping down into an open saloon with a convertible "L" shaped settee to starboard that converts to a double bed. Her forward stateroom accommodates two in single berths port and starboard with ample cedar lined closet space in the fore peak. To port in the salon is a galley with electric stove top, microwave, refrigerator and sink. To starboard is a head with sink and spacious shower.
The Atlantic is well suited for entertaining and day boating, as well as extended range cruising. Her large windows, open and bright styling is a refreshing departure from often crowded and dark contemporary interiors.
Twin Cummins 5.9 diesels with direct drive propel the 44 effortlessly through big water with a smooth ride. She is capable of a top speed of over 30kts, cruising nicely at 26kts. She has the navigation aids one would expect - VHF radio, GPS, radar and autopilot -all arranged in a simple and well laid out helm station. There is seating for eight comfortably in the mid cabin, fifteen people can be seated throughout the boat while underway, over twenty people comfortably aboard at hull speeds for cocktailing.
Jane Taylor has recently undergone exterior refinishing to her brightwork and cabin top. The teak and seats in the cockpit were refinished, the bow pulpit stripped and re-varnished. It is time for a new owner to take 'Jane Taylor' into the future with the love and care she deserves. With that investment, she will certainly return many years of enjoyment and safe cruising.
