CANDIDE is a beautiful example of the classic Bermuda 40. She has enjoyed the custodianship of her present owner (the yachts 3rd) for the past 34 years. She started out life as JAAN one of Hank Hinckley’s personal boats, a reference that can still be seen on her sail bags, ships manuals and some paperwork. She features some nice updates and upgrades including a recent 38hp diesel with all new muffler, exhaust hoses, insulation, fuel lines and racor filter. A dripless shaft seal was also installed as well as about 50% of her wiring replaced and she’s sporting a shiny new cove stripe to accentuate one of the prettiest shear lines on the water. She has also always enjoyed inside dry heated storage at one of Maines premier yards, Boothbay Region Boatyard –now- Hodgdon Yacht Services in Southport, Maine.

BROKERS REMARKS CANDIDE has been owned for the past 34 years by a USAF Veteran fighter pilot who flew prop planes in the final year of WWII and the flew the first jets in Korea. He is a fascinating man who has cared for his Hinckley with great pride, using her for day sails only over the past 7 or 8 years during Maine Summers. She is in nice shape and presents well.
