In fact, it burns slightly less fuel than both the Bertram 390 and the Luhrs in the equivalent class of boat from the same period. The 37 cruises are getting right about a 1gpm in the high 20's according to published industry test reports. The engineers of this high quality 80's Sportfish designed the strakes where stepping them increases lift and boost speed without shooting bubbles at the screws. And yes, the 37 does perform impressively, running 40 mph at wide-open throttle. Great ride feel of a heavy boat in turbulent seas, it displaces over 24,000lbs, and as stated, the 37 Convertible has an amazing quality of construction. Teak interior from floor to ceiling, including all doors and cabinets, counter-tops, floor highlights, and the head appointment is entirely teak. The cabin is laid out very nicely with a friendly sized stateroom with a full galley, a step down private V-berth with Master stateroom, cabin across with two berths for small adults or children adjoining head accessible from the master directly or the entry from the step-down. Detail work in the salon is better than anyone would expect for this boat built 32 years ago. The features and the teak matched grain cabinetry, solid-brass fittings, and satin-varnish finish do not appear today on a 37' production boat.
