DISCOVERY is Hull #237 of the very well respected and sea kindly Dyer 29’s. She has been continually upgraded and thoughtfully maintained by her owners and represents one of the nicest soft top versions her broker has seen. The hull is solid fiberglass with a fine entry and full keel/skeg which makes for a non-pounding, easily driven level riding hull in most all sea conditions. This timeless classic is ideal for day tripping, cocktails, fishing, or an extended weekend getaway.
OVERVIEWDISCOVERY is Hull #237 of the very well respected and sea kindly Dyer 29’s.
DISCOVERY has the standard Dyer 29 interior layout with a 6’6” long V-berth forward followed by a hanging locker and head to starboard and a galley to port. Opening ports and an overhead hatch let in plenty of light and fresh air and a teak and holly sole and teak galley countertop add warmth.
Her large cockpit accounts for more than half the boats length and features a two peace soundproofed engine box at the forward end and a custom bench seat with cushions aft. There are also custom boards to turn the engine box into a “play pen” for those cruising with little ones. Two foldaway helm seats are forward to port and starboard either side of the companionway to the cabin. Mid-cockpit to starboard is the original gin pole for bringing the big fish aboard and adequate rod holders are found recessed in the deck.
Owner’s personal items which may still be view-able at time of showing.
DISCOVERY is a delightfully well-proportioned example of this classic that has been beautifully maintained by the experts at McMillen Yachts in Portsmouth, RI. Her broker has spent considerable time behind the helm of another Dyer 29, and can attest to how predictable and easily these boats handle around the dock and in a seaway. DISCOVERY is inside in a well-lit, heated storage facility for the Winter and can be seen anytime day or night.
