DESCRIPTION

Brokers Comments:

NACARAT is a fast and capable bluewater cruising yacht from the legendary board of Ed Dubois. Designed for easy shorthanded sailing, she is of high tech build with an automated rig with Reckmann furlers on the front sails and an easily managed Park Avenue boom arrangement with flat-topped mainsail. She is built for family sailing with a large owners’ stateroom and 2 further generous guest cabins. Her saloon and deck space is perfect for living aboard for long periods. Of recent build from 2016, it is only her owner’s change of plan that means that NACARAT has come to the brokerage market.

Owners Comments:

My brief was to build a solid yacht in which I could sail without worry in any kind of sea, a go anywhere kind of yacht. I therefore specified a design with large crash boxes in bow, very strong monolithic keels and partial skeg.

I love the build quality, attention to detail and the sense of safety that NACARAT provides when the going gets tough.

Sailing very fast was not my priority since most of the time we sail 2 handed, she sails like a Privilege or older Lagoons but she is surprisingly quick in light winds

    Accommodation:

    Summary of Accommodation:

  • Large owners’ stateroom with 2 further generous guest cabins all with their own ensuite facilities.

  • Large main saloon and galley.

    Internal Layout:

Entering the saloon from the aft deck you find the area split down the centre with the saloon seating area to starboard and the generous galley to port. Mounted on the aft end of the divider is the lower control station which displays navigation data and status of the yacht’s systems on two touch screens. Engine and autopilot controls are found here too. Close-by to port one finds the electrical panel.

The saloon and galley area are finished in a Japanese walnut veneer combining with burgundy, real leather in the saloon and white “tiled” Corian counter tops in the galley and dark brown Amtico floor boards, to give a rich, sophisticated interior feel. Throughout the yacht white lacquer finishes are used to offset the richness of the walnut and leather and give a clean crisp feel to the décor, the saloon area is made up of two zones. Against the aft bulkhead is a raised L shaped sofa whilst forward is the U-shaped sofa wrapping around a large dining table. The two areas together give a flexible saloon adapting to formal dining, casual cocktails or a cinema experience with the large TV raised for use.

The ample galley is beautifully laid out and equipped. Being on deck level and intentionally designed to be an active part of life onboard, the finishes are to the same high standard as the saloon. With panoramic views through the huge windscreens, there is no need for the chef to feel left out of the action.

Passing through the saloon to the starboard hull, one finds the owner’s hull with a double berth aft and the generous ensuite head forward. Between those the owner has their own area to sit and enjoy some privacy.

The port hull carries two ensuite guest cabins. The forward cabin has the double berth set at right angles to the centreline and raised to sit on the inner side of the hull. The head is forward and like the owner’s head is particularly generous in space.

The third cabin sees a centreline double berth aft with ensuite head outboard and forward.

In this port hull, the lobby between the two cabins has been fitted out with cupboards in minimalist white lacquer which conceal the washing machine and storage for glassware and bottles.

Description of layout from forwards:

Looking aft from the raked bows the yacht has a very clean forward deck layout. Solar panels are laid onto the deck, there are powered furlers, and deck cleats are foldable or use screw pad eyes, so the whole effect is of a very clear deck.

A hatch in the starboard bow gives access to a space for crew cabin. Originally this was fitted out for crew but as the owner preferred to sail without crew, it is currently in use as storage, so some of the fitments were taken out. It would be simple to restore if the new owner wishes to use it for crew or unexpected guests!

A large hatch in the crossbeam deck opens on starboard to reveal a large locker, in the aft bulkhead of which is the entrance to the main systems space running the width of the beam ahead of the saloon area. It is also possible to access this area from the saloon side. In this area one finds all the yacht systems beautifully laid out. Then engines are mounted under the floors in the two hulls keeping the weight low and central in the yacht, but all other technical items are here in this space.

Broad side decks lead aft around the signature windscreen leading to the aft deck. One walks all the way aft and enters the cockpit centrally. The cockpit was designed to be private and comfortable even in poor weather so is only accessed from the aft deck. The main seating area is set to port, consisting of a large U-shaped settee with two adjustable tables giving a variety of configurations for sun-lounging, casual entertaining or formal eating. It is faced by an L shaped sofa to starboard to complete a huge, comfortable cockpit. To starboard of the cockpit, stairs lead to the sail control area and the helm position. Close enough to feel part of the group in the cockpit but keeping the hardware well separated from the guests. The owner wanted the yacht to be manageable on his own and the layout of this helm area clearly shows the thought put into achieving that target.

At the stern of the yacht, custom designed carbon davits carry the tender and a further array of solar panels. As with everything onboard the davits were designed as an integral part of the build so they fit the whole designed ethos of the yacht.
