DESCRIPTION

Eiland Marken is a beautiful original 1931 Luxe Motor built by the shipyard ‘De Hoop’ voorheen gebr. Boot in Leiden, the Netherlands. The Boot brothers were renowned for building high quality ships and are sort after in the Netherlands. She was probably built to carry Dairy or luxury products. She was later converted in the 50’s or 60’s to a water tanker to carry 40 tons of fresh water to supply larger boats. Bought by the current owner in 2007 Eiland Marken made the voyage across the North Sea to Cambridgeshire where they began converting her from a water tanker to a home. The current owner (a marine engineer/boat builder) has recently completed the fit out to a very high standard using top quality durable materials.
Our office is open 7 days a week and viewings are by appointment with the broker. A mooring could also be available to a new owner, subject to the marina operator's consent and terms.

Construction-: Riveted steel hull, completely overplated by the current owner, riveted and welded steel topsides, steel cabin hatch, steel wheelhouse, brass porthole windows and dome vents, brass door furniture, light switches and plug sockets, and hardwood joinery throughout. The vessel has been spray foam insulated above the waterline and with fireproof DuctWrap below the waterline. The topsides were repainted in 2017. Accommodation-: The accommodation offers a modern, luxurious living space within a traditional environment that has been converted to an exceptionally high standard using high quality and durable materials. No time, effort or expense has been spared in the transformation of Eiland Marken from a water carrying barge on the waterways of continental Europe to this most desirable of residences. The bespoke accommodation offers a large open plan living space, a fitted galley, a forward cabin, a large bathroom, a wheelhouse and a master cabin aft. The forward cabin is located just aft of a large forward locker that contains the domestic water tank and access to the chain locker. Sitting within the forward section of the vessel, this cabin follows the lovely curved shape of the hull, is lined with hardwood and white painted panelling and fitted with four brass port hole windows, double sockets and light switches, wall lights, a double radiator, carpet flooring and a port side door to the saloon. The saloon is open plan and fitted in the same style as the forward cabin, with a large opening deck hatch above, a solid fuel stove mounted in the forward starboard corner, port hole windows on both sides, solid wood flooring, wall lights, brass light switches, several plug sockets, and a double radiator. The walk through galley lies aft of the saloon and is an excellent example of Tom's workmanship. The white Shaker style base units are topped with solid granite work tops with matching wall units either side of the extractor hob. A clever Le Mans corner unit makes full use of the available space, as do the integrated appliances (Bosch fridge, freezer and washer/dryer). A Butler sink with a brass mixer tap and a Belling stainless steel cooker complete the well equipped, functional and very attractive galley. The passage way leading aft through to the engine room has a door to the bathroom, which is fitted with a roll top bath with a mixer tap and shower attachment, a wrap around shower curtain, a ceramic Butler style wash basin mounted on a bespoke vanity unit, a Simpson Lawrence manual sea toilet and a chrome, heated towel radiator. A ceramic tiled floor, port hole window and hardwood joinery complete the finish. The engine room is accessed from the passage way via a door and from the wheelhouse via steps and a hatch and, in addition to the engine, contains the central heating boiler, batteries, inverter, charger and associated equipment. There is lots of natural light into the room via port hole windows and a skylight. The wheelhouse is nicely in proportion with the rest of the vessel with windows all round, port and starboard side doors, hardwood lined and trimmed, a full width bench seat with a locker beneath and the helm midships. From the wheelhouse, there is a hatch and steps to starboard that leads down into the beautifully fitted aft master cabin where the double bed lies across the boat on a raised plinth with a locker beneath, a locker forward under the wheelhouse floor, port hole windows, carpet flooring, double radiator, wall mounted lighting, brass switches and plug sockets.
