A rare opportunity to own a centre cockpit Montevideo 43 built by Fred Scholtz Marine in Cape Town. The wineglass hull has a large moulded fin keel and a skeg hung rudder making her a strong and stiff boat with excellent sailing performance, sailing beautifully in a variety of conditions. Down below there is plenty of teak and white veneer giving cozy yet spacious impression. The current owners have owned her for 15 years and have sailed extensively from Panama to Europe and back. They are selling as they have bought a bigger boat.

Accommodation
Accommodations includes 7 berths in 4 cabins. There is full standing (6ft+) headroom and good ventilation throughout. Forward V berth stateroom with storage above and below bunk and additional single berth stateroom to starboard with storage and adjacent seat or storage. To port good size electric heads, basin & shower with space and plumbing for washing machine. Moving aft the saloon has drop down table and comfortable settees which convert into double bunk to starboard with storage lockers above. To port are the navigation table, seat and electrical panel. The galley runs the length of the starboard side with two burner Force 10 gimballed cooker and oven, refrigerator & microwave. Two stainless steel sinks with pressurized water. Under the cockpit the engine room has excellent access with removable panels. The aft master cabin leads back from the starboard side with large (owner extended it) double berth, small settee, storage and hanging lockers. The aft cabin has its own heads (electric) and shower room to port.
Mechanical Systems
Located centrally aft of the saloon is the 2005 Yanmar 4JH4E 4 cylinder 55HP diesel engine. Only 1419 engine hrs the engine appears in excellent cosmetic condition.

Sogno has been a joy to own and sail. She has taken me many thousands of miles and has never let me down. I have consistently upgraded her in an attempt to maintain her legendary pedigree. She is in great condition and ready to go where ever the new owners wish to go.
Construction
Built-in 1980 in South Africa, the Montvideo 43 is constructed of solid GRP with fully encapsulated cast iron keel. In 2008 the hull was epoxied and has recently (Oct 2018) been bottom painted with Seahawk Island 44. The decks are painted non-slip in a cream colour. Osmosis repairs have been carried out below the waterline but the topsides are showing some signs of blistering - the decks and topside could do with repainting - this is reflected in the asking price.
