Wooden Ships Comments on this Uffa Fox Swordfish sailing dinghy The Uffa Fox designed Swordfish was the fore runner to the Albacore built by Fairey Marine in 1957 in 3 ply Agba veneers, fitted with a steel centre plate giving good stability. Maintained to an exceptionally high standard, fully equipped and ready to race with a Portsmouth Yardstick of 1117, or cruise with Swallows & Amazons. The boat will readily plane in a fresh breeze at well over 10 knots and has high stability because of its weight. Keep this boat covered and well maintained and she will last another 50 years. Complete with a racing rig, road trailer, covers and everything else required to go sailing.   Construction Hot moulded with 3 layers of Agba veneers. Hull varnished inside and out. Built in buoyancy tanks. Steel centreplate, epoxy painted, 75lbs. Winch operated (Skeleton lightweight) Twin stainless steel Elvstrom self bailers.     Rig Bermudan Sloop rig on an alloy mast and boom with a carbon fibre spinnaker pole. Sail area of main and jib 125sq ft. Spinnaker approx 60sq ft. Jib sheets with quick release snap shackle. Cascade tensioning for kicker. Cascade tensioning for jib forestay. Pockets for main halyard and jib halyard tails. Spinnaker in a sock with continuous sheet. Goacher main and jib, only 3 seasons use. 2 unused spinnakers. Spiro fitting on mast for flyaway pole Unused spare mast with slight delivery damage to foot area.     Inventory 2 inflatable buoyancy bags Spiro fitting on mast for flyaway pole Galvanised launching trolley Road trailer, easy load roller, new wheel bearings 2 lighting boards, 1 with built in mast support Tie down straps Summer over boom cotton cover Spring and autumn PVC over boom cover, only 2 seasons use.
