Clinker rowing dinghy believed built as a tender to an East Coast fishing boat called Doris, she has the name DORIS LO20 carved into her transom. It is possible the dinghy dates from 1907 but this is not confirmed.

Found by the present owner sunk in a creek, she was refitted and has been used regularly ever since for rowing on the River Dart and surrounding coastline. Last year she had 5 new ribs professionally fitted and a section of planking repaired.

This is not an immaculate dinghy but she is good and strong and ready to be used.

Construction

Clinker planked, believed to be some type of pine, all copper rivet fastened to steam bent oak timbers

Pine thwarts with heavy hanging knees

Substantial gunwale with 3 rowing positions, all using thole pins instead of rowlocks

Painted plywood sole boards

Transom hung rudder with tiller lines.
