Wooden Ships Comments Norwegian built clinker pram dinghy, built as a ships tender and sold for beer money by the captain of a Norwegian trading ship in the 1950's to a family in Barrow-in-Furness. The dinghy was given a very thorough refit, completed in 2017, which involved 5 new steamed timbers and lots of new fastenings, new bow transom, repaired gunnels and a complete paint job. She is now on a good road trailer with a full boat cover ready to tow away and be used. The design of this dinghy is typically Scandinavian with wide planks, slightly exaggerated sheer line and a stiff turn to the bilge giving her stability and load carrying capacity. Instead of rowlocks she has thole pins, a traditional and simple method of securing the oars and she is finished with gloss paint inside and out, easy to maintain and keeps up her working boat looks. An interesting and attractive boat in nice solid condition, perfect for getting the family afloat. Length 15' Beam 5'5" Construction Clinker planked in larch all copper rivet fastened to steam bent timbers. Some new stainless steel fastenings. Steamed timbers are one piece from gunnel to gunnel giving strength to the centreline structure. 5 timbers replaced in recent refit. Solid transom supported with grown knees. New bow transom board fitted in recent refit with all new fastenings. Heavy gunnels, repaired and refitted as necessary with thole pins instead of rowlocks giving 3 rowing positions. 4 heavy solid wooden thwarts plus a stern seat, all supported with grown knees. Metal keel band replaced.
