The Wee Seal II is one of Oughtred's larger designs with a self draining cockpit and cabin with 2 berths and sitting headroom. The current owners have cruised the boat extensively from 2006 to 2014 around the south coast and up to Norfolk with trips on the Broads, most of the Welsh coast and a 6 week summer cruise on the west coast of Scotland. The boat has always been wintered ashore under covers on her trailer to keep her in smart condition. She has proved herself to be a seaworthy and capable boat despite her small stature, riding out boisterous conditions with ease. The owners are confident to sail her in a Force 6 and have been caught out in a F7 several times without any issues. The hull is very stiff and strong due to the glued plywood construction, while also being lightweight. The unladen weight of the hull is 750kg, while her all up weight including trailer for towing is just 1.3 tons meaning nothing more than an average sized car is required to tow her. The ease with which she can be transported gives enormous flexibility in the areas where she can be sailed and reduces running costs as she can be stored at home when not afloat, avoiding hefty boat yard fees. Launching can be done on a slipway off the trailer and the mast can be stepped by hand making her a simple and cheap boat to use. A smart boat built to a known and applauded design in nice condition, complete with trailer and outboard engine, perfect for summers exploring local coasts and rivers.
