DESCRIPTION

Wooden Ships Comments Built to the Aber design by renowned French naval architect Francois Vivier, he first conceived the design in 1985 with inspiration from the Breton working boats. She is designed as a fast boat for up to 3 people, fun to sail with superb looks and easy to launch on and off a trailer. The bow sections were made more full than some of his earlier designs to give more buoyancy and better sea keeping. The powerful lug rig makes this a very fast little boat with a high peak yard typical of the Breton working boats. This particular boat was professionally built for the current owner in 1994 by John Moody of Traditional Sail in Salcombe. Moody built a small number of Abers around this time and they have become highly sought after for their exceptional build quality. This boat was commissioned by the owner to celebrate the Douarnenez 1992 festival of the sea and is aptly named Dz. This boat, Dz, was chosen by Classic Boat magazine as one of their top 150 designs of all time in the 150th edition of the magazine, it is not hard to see why when looking at the beautiful lines and finish on this particular boat. She has been dry stored all her life and comes with a very good quality road trailer and is complete and ready to tow away.
