The F-31R is an enhanced performance version of the well-proven, maxi-trailerable F-31.
Like all earlier Corsair sport cruisers, the R version is exceptionally fast, roomy, and comfortable. In this model, however, some traditional cruising amenities have been eliminated to save weight, and a substantially larger sail plan is spread on a modern rotating rig to give the already sporty F-31 an extra jolt of adrenaline that is sure to please the true performance enthusiast.
The mast is a beautifully finished carbon fiber rotating wing section developed for Corsair by carbon spar specialist Omohundro. It is two feet, six inches taller than the standard F-31 mast, yet the rig overall is 65 pounds lighter. It is thus even easier to handle than the standard F-31 mast, and with less weight aloft it gives the boat an easier motion, even in chop.
The sail plan is simple and efficient with a square-top mainsail, blade jib, asymmetric spinnaker, and screacher. Flown from the end of a seven-foot bowsprit, the roller furling screacher is one of the most powerful and versatile sails in the inventory and can be used to windward in light airs instead of a genoa.
Interior moldings and equipment have been kept to a minimum to save weight, which boosts sailing performance. Nevertheless, cabins are spacious with standing headroom, a double bunk forward, and two single settees in the main cabin. Cruising amenities, such as a head and galley, can be selectively added.
