DESCRIPTION

This is a unique opportunity to purchase a high specification Cornish Crabbers Crabber 22 complete with both the timber gaff and aluminium sloop rigs, still in her original ownership having been very lightly used and stored undercover since new. Although in need of a light clean and general recommissioning, 'Little Dolly' is a desirable earlier model with more traditional, solid wood interior and appears in excellent condition.

She also benefits from having the desirable, larger Yanmar 2GM20 twin-cylinder engine option and comes complete with a custom 4 wheel galvanised braked trailer. Priced very competitively to encourage a quick and straightforward sale, we don't expect her to be available for long!

Viewing by appointment only through our Essex office on.

Accommodation

The accommodation offers up to four berths in two cabins. Forepeak consisting of a small twin V berth with Jabsco marine toilet and stowage lockers beneath (berth cushions were optional and are not included, but suitable cushions could easily be sourced if required). Saloon with settee berths either side of a fixed central table with folding leaves. Galley area aft with useful stowage, sink with manually pumped cold water supply to port (via two removable plastic 10L containers) and a Plastimo Neptune 2000 2-burner cooker with grill to starboard. Check cotton upholstery in saloon. High-quality cabinetry and interior finish throughout with solid wood trims and veneers.

Mechanical Systems

Located abaft the companionway, Yanmar 2GM20 2-cylinder 18hp diesel engine. Seawater cooled. Single lever controls with electric start. Stainless steel 41 litre fuel tank. Shaft drive to fixed 3-bladed propeller.

The Yanmar 2GM20 was an expensive optional upgrade over the standard Yanmar 1GM10, in later years it was realised that the 1GM10 was worked hard in this model and discontinued, with many being retrospectively upgraded to twin-cylinder engines since. Although the engine hours are not known, the history of Little Dolly since new is, and she has been very lightly used during her entire life. The yard where she has been kept undercover believe that the hours could easily be below 100hrs run time from new, as her owner's ill-health and other commitments meant usage has been very light. The batteries will need replacing, and the engine should be recommissioned, but it is in excellent cosmetic condition and is believed to have been well maintained.

Electrical Systems

2 x 12v Batteries (new batteries required) charged via engine alternator. Shorepower system with RCD breaker panel, power socket and Merlin automatic battery charger. Electrical distribution panel. Battery selector switch. 12v Socket. Full cabin lighting.

Sails and Spars

Unusually 'Little Dolly' comes with both the Gaff rigged cutter and sloop rigs, complete with both tabernacles, allowing her owner to choose which system they prefer! Varnished mast, boom and bowsprit for Gaff rig. Anodised aluminium mast and boom for sloop rig. Stainless steel standing rigging. Terylene running rigging. Slab reefing mainsail. Headsail furling system. Mainsheet traveler. Lewmar halyard winch. The bowsprit is fully retractable to reduce the overall length in marinas.

  • Various sails, all appear to be in excellent condition

All spars, sails and equipment appear to be in excellent, very lightly used condition and it is believed that everything is included to use either rig, however due to the circumstances of the sale it will be down to the buyer to satisfy themselves of the exact equipment included, hence the very competitive asking price.

Deck Equipment

  • Plough type anchor with chain and warp
  • Stainless steel pushpit, stanchions and guardwires
  • Stainless steel boarding ladder
  • Mainsail cover and sprayhood
  • Warps and fenders
  • Assorted accessories

Navigation Equipment

  • Suunto bulkhead compass
  • ICOM IC-M59 Euro VHF radio
  • Autohelm ST40 echo sounder
  • Navigation lights

Safety Equipment

  • Harness eyes
  • Manual bilge pump

Additional Equipment

  • West Mersea trailers custom 4-wheel braked galvanised road trailer

The trailer appears to be in excellent order, lightly used and rarely, if ever, submerged. We would recommend that it is serviced before use, but is clearly in excellent condition for the age.

Construction

Cornish Crabbers Crabber 22 built in 1999 by Cornish Crabbers to a design by Roger Dongray. Green GRP hull with cream superstructure and moulded fawn coloured non-slip decks. Teak rubbing strake. Shallow long keel with encapsulated ballast and lifting keel. Tiller steering to keel hung rudder. Aft self draining cockpit.

As a result of being stored indoors undercover for the majority of her life, only venturing out for occasional use, the condition of her GRP and brightwork is unusually good, and with a light clean and polish will be almost as new.

Additional Comments

'Little Dolly' is being sold on behalf of her late owner's estate, and as such further information and detail on usage, maintenance and inventory are difficult to establish. She is equipped with significant upgrades and equipment over most rivals, and is likely to be lighter used and as a result in better condition than almost any sistership. She has been priced competitively to encourage a straightforward sale, allowing for any minor missing equipment and servicing that may be required. It will be the responsibility of a buyer to satisfy themselves that the inventory available is acceptable to them as part of the sale.

The company normally acts as brokers for the vendor who unless otherwise stated is not selling in the course of a business. Whilst every care has been taken in the preparation of these particulars the correctness is not guaranteed and they are intended as a guide only and do not constitute a part of any contract. A prospective buyer is strongly advised to check these particulars and where appropriate and at his own expense to employ a qualified marine surveyor to carry out a survey and/or to have an engine trial conducted which if conducted by us shall not imply any liability on our part.

General note on safety equipment: Any safety equipment such as liferaft, fire extinguishers and flares etc., are usually personal to the current owner(s) and if being left on board as part of the sale of a used vessel, may require routine servicing, replacement, or changing to meet a new owner’s specific needs.
