The condition or level of safety equipment on board is not to be negotiated on following survey. It is likely to be listed by most surveyors but is not structural or an integral working part of the vessel and is not to be used to further negotiate the price down after survey. We strongly suggest that for your own personal safety that when purchasing a yacht you provide new safety equipment rather than relying on second hand gear.

Should you become the new owner of this yacht then the responsibility to re-register or update official bodies for items such as EPIRB, VHF, MMSI or AIS becomes yours.

Owners Comments

“After a decade in our ownership Morangie, with her top-quality design, build and finish has ticked all the boxes as our perfect cruiser. Her intrinsic stability, “dry decks” and abilities on- and down-wind stem from u/w hull design, long bow and tumble-home (very Dutch), and she is no slouch. By adding 4-speed Pontos genoa winches (now marketed by “Karver”) which are a revelation, and Vetus bow-thruster, we have found her easy to handle in all conditions and situations. The recent Beta 4-cyl. normally aspirated diesel was a sound and successful choice and with the Autoprop delivers more than enough power when required, very effective low revs motor-sailing in light conditions, and markedly frugal consumption overall.

Down below, Morangie’s layout and design is spacious (lots of stowage) but cosy and safe (good hand-holds in a seaway), a beautiful finish in detail, and the rare two shower/heads layout fore-and-aft is a big bonus for comfortable cruising.

In all aspects Contest designed us a “proper yacht” and we retire from sailing on a high.”
