OFFERED IN OUR ESSEX WINTER SEALED BID AUCTION - ALL BIDS MUST BE REGISTERED BY 2PM ON FRIDAY 28TH FEBRUARY 2020 - SEE LISTING OR CONTACT US FOR FURTHER DETAILS

The Colvic Victor 40 is a versatile cruising yacht, often used for liveaboard bluewater cruising thanks to their huge volume which allows for plenty of storage and comfortable cabins. Offered for sale as an unfinished project on behalf of the estate this is a desirable deck saloon version, it is a perfect blank canvas for an enthusiastic and practical owner to create their own ideal layout.

Viewing by appointment only through our Essex office

Accommodation

As can be seen in the pictures, some bulkheads are in place however they will need to be assessed and possibly replaced depending on condition. Various loose items are inside making access limited to viewing from the companionway.

Mechanical Systems

There is a Thornycroft engine inside of unknown age and degree of installation, it is believed to be new and unused. However, the condition is completely unknown and untestable and so we would suggest it is best to assume it will require either rebuilding or replacement. A shaft, P-bracket and propeller are in place but may require further adjustment or installation.

Sails and Spars

Ketch rigged. Anodised aluminium masts and one boom (one missing) in unused condition. Mast bases, some rigging fittings, genoa sheet tracks and aft traveller present. No sails, winches or other items available.

Deck Equipment

Excellent quality pulpit, pushpits and stanchions have been fitted, along with a number of cleats.

Navigation Equipment

Although some older instruments have been installed these are believed to be inoperable. They could possibly be used to enclose modern instruments within to increase security and add a degree of period charm.

Construction

Colvic Victor 40 moulded by Colvic Craft Ltd to a design by John Bennett, believed to date from 1978. Purchased by her first owner as mouldings and believed to have been assembled to current stage professionally by the highly regarded local yard Dan Webb and Feesey (no longer trading). Green GRP hull with off white superstructure and decks. Teak rubbing strake. Aft self draining cockpit. Long fin keel with encapsulated ballast. Wheel steering (not included) to skeg hung rudder.

Conditions of Sale

Although the initial build would appear to have been to a very high standard, with high quality radiused marine windows and excellent stainless work, she requires significant works to complete. Some areas of the deck are likely to have suffered moisture ingress to the core and all systems need to be sourced and fitted. Nothing is known of the type of ballast used or how this was fitted. There are some new tanks inside which may be suitable for use as water, fuel or holding tanks, but their dimensions, quality and condition are unknown. It is also important to note that any owner or builder may need to comply with current CE and Recreational Craft Directive requirements and we suggest that enquiries are made on this to CE Proof. It may be possible to qualify for owner-builder exemption, however, it is down to any purchaser to satisfy themselves of this before buying. Ongoing storage is available at Burnham Yacht Harbour, please contact them directly for further information on costs.

As a result of the above, she is being offered strictly on a sold 'as is, where is' basis with no further information available, without any warranty of condition or description, hence the very low guide price. All bids must be submitted in writing on an official bid form by 2pm on February 28th 2020, these will then be presented to the Estate for consideration.

The company normally acts as brokers for the vendor who unless otherwise stated is not selling in the course of a business. Whilst every care has been taken in the preparation of these particulars the correctness is not guaranteed and they are intended as a guide only and do not constitute a part of any contract. A prospective buyer is strongly advised to check these particulars and where appropriate and at his own expense to employ a qualified marine surveyor to carry out a survey and/or to have an engine trial conducted which if conducted by us shall not imply any liability on our part.

General note on safety equipment: Any safety equipment such as liferaft, fire extinguishers and flares etc., are usually personal to the current owner(s) and if being left on board as part of the sale of a used vessel, may require routine servicing, replacement, or changing to meet a new owner’s specific needs.
