DESCRIPTION

1974 Prior Coaster 33 £24,750
The Prior Coaster 33 is a well-built motor sailer by designer Alan Hill which performs well under power or sail. With an easily handled ketch rig, sheltered wheelhouse and good accommodation, they make excellent cruising yachts for anyone wanting to spend extended time aboard in comfort. This good example and is presented for sale in great condition for her age.

Accommodation

The layout offers six berths with two double sleeping cabins separate from the main accommodation. In the forecabin, V berth Separate chart stowage in the forecabin. Opening hatch to foredeck. The aft cabin is a "V berth" with infill and stowage under. In the saloon, dinette to port with settee opposite, easy access to ample storage behind and below seating in the saloon, upholstery finished in royal blue. Fixed table with drop leaves. Concealed rubbish bin area under the step in the saloon. Stereo system fitting in the saloon. Wardrobe and drawers stowage in both forecabin and aft cabin. Separate heads compartment to starboard with Baby Blakes marine toilet, with washbasin. Galley to port. Two hob gas cooker with grill and oven. Stainless steel sink with a cold pressurised water system. 400-litre freshwater capacity, refrigerator. Webasto diesel fired hot air central heating. Access to the engine bay is in the cockpit.

Mechanical Systems

Located under the cockpit Perkins 4108 four-cylinder 38hp diesel engine. Electric start. Freshwater cooled via the heat exchanger. Shaft drive to three-bladed propeller. Single lever control. 200 litres fuel capacity giving approximately 500-mile range at 6-knot cruising speed. Maximum speed under power 7 knots.

Electrical Systems

3 x 12-volt batteries charging from the engine alternator, solar panel, wind generator and battery management system. Shore power connection with 240-volt ring main.

History and Construction

Built-in 1974 by Priors, to a design by Alan Hill, this is boat number 8. White GRP hull with teak sheer strake. Teak toe rails. White GRP superstructure with Treadmaster non-slip to deck. Long keel. Keel hung rudder. Wheel steering. Centre self-draining cockpit with a wheelhouse. in 2007 this vessel went through a major refit at a cost in excess of £20,000 including.

  • A gelcoat extension was applied to hull areas below the waterline.
  • Topsides and deck areas were all re-expoxied.
  • Cabin top window seals all renewed, and crazed acrylic windows replaced.
  • Masts were removed and all wiring renewed.
  • Radar fitted.
  • New Webasto heater was fitted.
  • Tail shaft removed and stern gland re-packed.
