The Deep Seadog 30 Ketch is a well thought after sea boat with very practical layout and excellent build quality. This example has been well maintained and has been owned by the current owner for 40 years plus.

The accommodation offers five berths in two cabins. Forepeak with marine sea toilet. Washbasin with manual pumped water supply. Sail storage and hanging lockers. Two settee berths in saloon, with storage above and below. Folding saloon table. Galley to port with a 2-ring gas cooker with oven and grill. Stainless steel sink with cold water supply via a foot pump and electric pump, Waco fridge. Generous stowage. Large chart table to starboard. Steps up to cockpit with seating. Steps down to aft cabin. Two V berths with storage under. Storage lockers. Full cabin lighting, curtains, and carpets, upholstered in mixed colours. Radio. Heated throughout via an Eberspacher diesel heating system.

History and Construction

Built in 1972 by Whites Shipyard in Southampton, to a design by Reg Freeman. Painted blue GRP hull with white superstructure. Teak rubbing strake. Moulded non-slip to decks and cockpit. Encapsulated long keel. Self-draining centre cockpit with console mounted wheel steering to keel hung rudder.

Ketch rig, gold anodised deck stepped masts and booms by Kemp, stainless steel standing rigging (2008). Terylene running rigging. Rotostay headsail furling system. Mainsail roller reefing. Alloy spinnaker pole.

Mechanical System

Located under the cockpit sole a 1973 Perkins 4108 47hp four-cylinder diesel engine. Last serviced spring 2021. (Engine and gearbox completely rebuilt 2016) Freshwater cooled via heat exchanger. Electric start. Twin lever control. Shaft drive to fixed three bladed propeller, with rope cutter. Whitlock controls. 2 stainless steel fuel tanks 236 litres. Fitted with a Vetus bowthruster. Halyard sea water intake failure alarm. Last out of water maintenance 2019, antifouled, anodes and cutlass bearing changed.


Electrical System

3 x 12-volt batteries (2018) charging from the engine alternator, shorepower connection with Truecharge battery management system.
