DESCRIPTION

The Buchanan Norman is a classic traditional design from the board of the renowned Naval Architect, Alan Buchanan. A well balanced and well mannered craft that is fun to sail and a joy to own, and capable in all weathers. This excellent example has been in continuous family ownership since new and is presented for sale in really nice condition. If you are looking for a beautiful classic yacht, she is well worth a look.

Accommodation

The accommodation offers six berths in two cabins. In the forecabin, V berth with stowage under. Opening hatch to foredeck. Full width heads compartment with marine toilet. In saloon, two settee berths. Fold down saloon table. The galley comprises a stainless steel sink to port with hot and cold pressurised water supply. 10 gallon freshwater capacity. Two burner gimballed gas hob with grill to starboard. Portable refrigerator. Quarter berths to port and starboard. Diesel fired cabin heater. Radio/CD player.

Mechanical Systems

Located behind the companionway, Nanni D772F three cylinder 27hp diesel engine. Electric start. Freshwater cooled via heat exchanger. Shaft drive to three bladed propeller. Single lever control. 17 gallon fuel capacity giving approximately 200 mile range at 5 knot cruising speed. Maximum speed under power 6 knots.

Construction

Built in 1961 by Frost & Drake, Tollesbury, to a design by Alan Buchanan. White painted carvel planked hull with steam bent frames and copper fastenings. Varnished mahogany superstructure with teak laid deck.
