The owners of The Salix Lady spent their childhood messing about in boats on the Thames, particularly on their father’s boats. His father's boat being 'Lady Willow'.
They commissioned the New build of this Broom 38 "The Salix Lady" in 1999 following their move to Hammersmith in their 50’s & a decision to take up boating again.
The boat's name was inspired by the house that William Morris, the 19th Century poet & designer, lived in for the last 17 years of his life & where they now live. His ever popular design “Willow Bough” lead to the boat's name (Salix being the Latin for Willow) & the furnishings.
THe Salix Lady has cruised on the non-tidal & tidal Thames, the Solent (where she spent 7 years), the West Country estuaries, the East of England waters including the Broads, & the rivers & canals of France & Germany. She spent 6 years in the South of France.
The owners have decided that their European cruising days are done; & may return to the small boat delights of their childhood!
