ALL VIEWINGS ARE CURRENTLY STRICTLY BY APPOINTMENT ONLY
The Broom 345 Offshore is a stylish, practical and spacious cruiser from the highly regarded Broom yard, offering similar class leading accommodation to the popular Broom 38 in a slightly more compact package for reduced running costs and easier handling. Ideal for long term cruising they are well suited to coastal cruising or exploring rivers and estuaries thanks to a clever planing hull design with a keel to improve handling at slower speeds. 'Barella' benefits from upgraded Yanmar 260hp engines (new 2004), has a current BSSC until April 2023 and has clearly been maintained to an excellent standard. Her inventory includes a bow thruster, diesel heating, electric freshwater flush toilets, folding arch, electric windlass, chart plotter, AIS, autopilot, new propellers, new cockpit upholstery and more.
Only in her third ownership from new, early viewing is highly recommended of this rare and sought after model.
Viewing by appointment only via our Essex office
Accommodation
The Broom 345 offers comfortable sleeping accommodation for up to five in two cabins plus the saloon, with generous headroom throughout.
AFT CABIN: Superbly designed and ideal for long term cruising, the aft cabin is fitted with a large offset island double berth, vanity unit and mirror, and excellent storage in two wardrobes, various lockers and shelves. There is access to the en suite to starboard whilst good light and ventilation is provided by a large opening hatch to the bathing platform and opening window to port.
EN SUITE: The lined en suite compartment is to starboard and fitted with an electric freshwater flush toilet, wash basin, separate shower area, mirror, cupboard and opening window.
SALOON: Featuring a large seating area to starboard (currently can be used as an occasional berth or a double berth conversion could be created) with storage and dining table, with large storage cupboards and seat to port. Entertainment is provided by a TV and DVD player. Excellent natural light and ventilation from the large windows with fitted blinds (blinds new 2019). Access via stairs to the aft deck and steps down to the aft cabin and forward to the galley, day heads and forecabin.
GALLEY: U-shaped galley to starboard fitted with Corian work surfaces and equipped with a three burner gas hob with separate oven and grill beneath, extractor fan, microwave oven, front loading 12v fridge, double stainless steel sink, ample storage and opening portlight.
FORECABIN: Fitted with twin V berth, mirror, hanging locker to port, beneath berth storage, bulkhead overhead storage locker, opening hatch to foredeck and two portlights.
HEADS: Separate compartment to port with electric freshwater flush marine toilet (with holding tank and valve for overboard discharge), wash basin, mirror and cupboard.
GENERAL EQUIPMENT: Light blue upholstery with complimenting carpets and blinds or curtains throughout. Hot and cold pressurised water system throughout via a calorifier with immersion coil. Eberspacher diesel fired heating system to all cabins and the cockpit.
EXTERIOR: Helm position forward to starboard, well laid out with excellent all-round visibility and controls immediately at hand. The adjustable helmsman seat allows for flexibility in a variety of different conditions and the curved screens and upper canvas cover provide complete protection whilst also allowing open-air cruising quickly and conveniently. Large cockpit area with two forward-facing seats which can swivel to face aft, increasing seating around the extending teak cockpit table (new 2016), with comfortable seating to starboard, aft and port. All cockpit seating has been professionally reupholstered in August 2020 using modern fabrics, creating the feel of a much younger boat on deck. Ample cockpit stowage in various lockers. Walk-through access to stern with ladder down to the integrated bathing platform. Folding radar arch with gas ram assist. Full lined cockpit enclosure (new 2016). Heating outlet for comfortable cruising on cooler days.
Mechanical Systems
Located under the saloon sole, twin Yanmar 6LPA-DTP six cylinder 260hp turbocharged diesel engines (new 2004 fitted by a Broom main agent). Freshwater cooled via heat exchangers. Twin Morse type single lever controls with electric start. Hydraulic wheel steering with rudder indicator gauge. Shaft drive to 4-bladed propellers (new propellers from Clements Marine in August 2019) with rope cutters. Twin stainless steel 455 litre fuel tanks (both tanks were professionally inspected by Broom Marine Services in July 2019 and a new starboard tank installed). Full engine instrumentation. Halyard exhaust alarms. 2 x Engine bay electric heaters with thermostat for winter protection. Bennetts adjustable trim tabs with indicator gauge. QL bow thruster.
The engines appear to be in very good cosmetic condition and have been regularly used and maintained with 1163hrs run time to date.
Electrical Systems
4 x 6v Trojan domestic batteries arranged in a 12v bank and 2 x 12v engine batteries (new 2017), all charged via engine alternators. Shorepower system with ring mains, immersion coil for water heating and Sterling smart multi-stage battery charger. Inverter (1500/3000w) for providing mains power whilst away from shorepower. Solar panel charging to domestic battery bank. NASA BM-1 battery monitoring system. LED cabin lighting. Electrical distribution panel with circuit breakers. Durite master mattery remote control (solenoid) battery isolating switch (new 2016).

Construction
Broom 345 Offshore built in 1997 by Broom to a design by Andrew Wolstenholme. White GRP hull, superstructure and decks with moulded non-slip surfaces. Hydraulic wheel steering to twin spade rudders.
Barella has a current Boat Safety Scheme Certificate until April 2023, has just been polished, anti-fouled and had new anodes fitted ready for the coming season. Her adaptable planing hull design works well for a variety of uses thanks to the keel section which significantly improves slow speed handling and she is only for sale due to her knowledgeable owner now looking to move to a different style of boating.
