The Patricia launch was one in a range of designs built by Bossoms boatyard in Binsey based on traditional boat hull designs. There was also the steamboat hull known as a Nell. However the Patricia was the most popular giving long waterline length for low wash performance such as was required in Victorian times for following racing eights. This is a more manageable length than the boats rebuilt for Henley Royal Regatta and used during the major regattas. Built of fibreglass for low maintenance but with solid wood decking and interior. Macavity has been revarnished in spring 2020 and is now looking for a new owner. She is ideally suited for someone who likes entertaining with the owner/skipper sitting behind a wheel at the stern of the boat with their guests to port and starboard on bench seating with lockers below. Originally built as an electric launch the boat could be reconverted but for now has a Honda petrol outboard inserted through the aft deck.
There is a full length brass canopy with a green canvas fabric covering if required but we quite like the boat as an elegant open launch (in the style of the HRR umpires launches). At one point in her recent history she was named Bateau du Vin and used as a commercial charter launch by the Hotel du Vin in Henley. We are however selling her for a subsequent private owner. There is no doubt that she would appeal as a charter/private hire vessel with easy seating for at least 10 passengers.
