DESCRIPTION

Fresh repower with brand new 2015 Honda 225's!. I love the way multihull designs can be adapted to very specific purposes and excel beyond expectation. The design spec here called for a cat built to catch marlin on ultralight tackle in the Bay of Islands, NZ. After 4 years of meticulous construction, the result - a foil-assisted trailerable 33' aluminum pilothouse that can cruise at 28 knots getting 3 mpg with a range of nearly 1000 miles at cruise! Top speed so far is 46 mph with 4 fishermen and tackle aboard. This is a fishing Mercedes. She goes by other power boats like they are standing still - especially when the going gets rough. She will run in the high 30's in surprisingly choppy conditions. The Bladerunner even has snorkeled engines so that she can back down into a sea at speed to keep a fish from spooling off. After few years fishing in New Zealand, she was packed in a container and shipped to Seattle. Now the result is the best fishing platform in the Northwest - possibly the world. She's got everything you need to bring in the salmon, halibut, ling cod, crab, shrimp. . . with the speed, toughness and sea-kindly performance to get you on the fish and back when everyone else is still at the dock. With her high efficiency and speed she also doubles as an excellent inter island (or inside passage) commuter. This rare, proven, professionally built Bladerunner catamaran could be the fishing platform of your dreams. Call before she is gone.

Let's Take This Back to Front

You can board over the side on the Bladerunner 33 as always but you can also board from the stern. The Fighting Platform serves dual duty as a boarding platform with a tilt-down security gate that becomes the boarding ladder. Climb right up between the engines when the boat is on the trailer. Climb right up out of the water after a dive. Lock the ladder in the up position and the platform is very secure aft with high rails at each side. Snorkeled twin Honda 225s at each side. What a place to fight a fish!

Alright, stride off the Fighting Platform and you are aboard into the long cockpit. A circulating livebait tank is to port beneath one of two Scotty High Performance electric downriggers. The other downrigger is to starboard above the tackle lockers. The cockpit's anti-slip surface provides sure footing around a large Icey Tech Chilly Bin fish cooler. Beneath the cockpit is tankage for 330 gallons of fuel. This cat cruises at 28 knots getting 3 miles to the gallon. The tankage enables nearly 1000 miles of range - incredible for a 33' fast pilothouse. Behind the pilothouse is hefty electric pot-puller, another smaller Chilly Bin, and more storage along with a deck washdown. The sleek pilothouse roofline extends aft of the targa arch protecting the pilothouse entry and providing a mounting point for an array of poles. The headroom is surprisingly good. It is about 6'3" as you pass beneath the roofline and then nearly 6'6" within the pilothouse itself. Above on the targa and roof are RADAR, dual spotlights, pole holders, and fold down antennae. The roof is painted safety orange (as are the bottoms of the hulls) for high visibility.

Within the sleek sturdy pilothouse you feel the benefit of 33' again. There is storage and shelving to port followed by a dinette. To starboard is a galley and then a pilot station and helm. At the helm are the Furuno NavNet plotter and NavPilot Autopilot as well as compass, ignitions, engine guages, throttles and DC switches for lights, vhf, triple wipers, and accessories. She is fitted with a high speed transducer and fish finder that allows bottom profiling at speed. The ePIRB is beside the helm and the electrical panel is below. She has hydraulic steering.

There is a beam-to-beam bunk in the not so peaked fore-peak. This is a large space with ample sleeping space for 2 adults. The electric windlass and ground tackle are accessed through an overhead hatch and controlled with a foot switch within. There is an aggressive Manson anchor at the bow with rode tailing lockers at each side.

Every aspect of this Bladerunner shows expert craftsmanship. It took 4 years for her to be professionally built by Greg Shine in New Zealand. She is sleek and strong and the welding is beautiful. Her hulls are long enough to bridge chop at speed yet still 8 1/2' wide for trailerability. Her central lifting foil helps her attain amazing economy. It is designed to shear off in the event of an impact without a hull breach and allows high speed cruising while enjoying 3 mile per gallon fuel economy and a very stable ride.

This is a big cat that doesn't have to be marina kept. She rides on a heavy-duty gooseneck launch trailer. She'll need a good size pickup for launch and retrieval but can be transported and stored with ease. She can also ship worldwide in an open 40' shipping container.
