DESCRIPTION

Beneteau Blue II sailing catamaran, desirable project - (open to offers)
The Beneteau Blue II is a comfortable cruising catamaran with excellent performance and lots of living space. With its generously-sized saloon, cockpit and sun deck, the boat provides exceptionally spacious accommodation, with room for twelve people during the day and up to eight people overnight across 3-4 private cabins. The unusual double steering position with dual inboard engines allows for high manoeverability. She is rare in the UK. The Blue II can also be disassembled and transported on a flat trailer or in a 40' container.
This boat has been in the same family since it was bought new in Brittany, France, in 1989. She has been sailed around France, the Channel Islands and in the Solent, and is currently lying in Southampton. She comes with her papers and evidence of VAT paid, sail wardrobe, and electrics and one engine shown to run. However, she has been unused for some time due to illness and is in need of maintenance. We see this boat as a highly desirable project for someone who appreciates everything she has to offer and has the capability to take on some work. Below is the boat’s specification, and a description of the boat’s condition and work needed:

CONDITION AND WORK NEEDED
The boat has had humidity damage and some water damage, but the humidity is now resolved and water ingress negligible, pending the repair/replacement of windows and main topsides seal by the new buyer, and she’s been professionally valeted.
Above the waterline she needs the following: Her rig minorly realigned and serviced/renewed, and rig warps replaced. All but her cockpit windows removed and resealed or ideally wholly replaced. The sliding doorframe removed and re-sealed. Several Lewmar hatch cleat plates replaced. The trampoline re-stitched or replaced. Most wood floorboards replaced. Most headlining and sidelining renewed. The toilet fixed (likely just needs part-dismantling). The oven and gas lines probably need replacing. New engine batteries.
At and below the waterline, she needs the following: Several bilge pumps fixed and a few pump handles. Some new ball valves. New anodes and new props fitted (we have these ready). A thorough review including skin fittings, ancillaries, shafts etc.., plus identifying the source of a longtime negligible leak into the bilge (clear water, minimal oil or detritus). Dry out. She has rudder gel chips and 1-2 scattered potential blisters on a half sq.m. test patch, pending lift out and exploration.
Her upholstery is complete and passable for now, and can be used as templates for a future renewal (foam and foam covers to hatch covers, curtains and tie backs). Mainsail and genoa ok, storm jib and kite seldom used - can be inspected. Original safety kit and electronics so the buyer will want some modern items. Her electrics are working, as is one engine. The second engine turns over but is not currently running as it needs a corroded oil pipe replacing, and also has another an issue (to be identified).
Some accessories currently aboard, such as harnesses, shore lines and plumb lines, can be included.
As this boat is an unusual proposition, we're not certain of her value and have chosen a starting figure for discussions (open to offers). The owners are very happy to answer any questions that you may have.
