Valholl has been completely re-furbished and re-powered with a diesel-electric hybrid propulsion system with twin electric motors fed by an efficient modern John Deere generator.
Valholl is the old Norse spelling of Valhalla – the Viking version of heaven. Stepping aboard Valholl feels like heaven indeed – combining a much-beloved classic mid-century charm with modern technology and comfort. Valholl offers all you may need, wherever you may go.
Valholl is hull #17, Art DeFever design with heavy, durable mahogany planking and yakal frames, a tough tropical hardwood. She has been well-maintained, fully refurbished, and upgraded with modern electrical and plumbing systems as well new electronics and a diesel-electric propulsion system. Valholl is built and set up for coastal cruising with all the necessary creature comforts and systems for efficient long-range cruising. With great seakeeping capabilities, Valholl has traveled from Alaska to Mexico.
The classic American Marine Alaska Trawler’s extensive refit was meticulously performed and documented. This becomes evident as you browse through the detailed specs and photos provided here – see for yourself and you will begin to appreciate the intelligent engineering, with thoughtful attention to every detail that is apparent when you board the vessel.
Entering the salon from the aft deck - the first thing you notice is how extraordinarily clean, bright, and modern the interior is – and except for tastefully retained classic Alaskan Trawler elements, it is mostly new. The spacious salon and connected galley beckon you to linger – but the bridge commands attention right away. The modern technology that sounded overwhelming is, in reality, quite simple to operate. With cameras and split screens to monitoring anything in need of attention – it is easy to feel fully in command of the vessel from the helm station.
For accommodations, Valholl offers a forward king berth stateroom with storage, head, pilothouse day berth, and salon sofa pulls-out into queen berth. The original guest cabin has been modified into a workshop – the organization and use of this space rival what few have at home. The workshop is could be easily modified - temporarily or permanently - back into an additional cabin with two bunks.
Truly a one-of-a-kind trawler, Valholl is a comfortable live aboard for any couple with beautifully handcrafted teak interiors, smartly designed living areas, and exceptional storage.
