BACCHANTE was designed by R C M Courtney and built by George Wilson Boatbuilders Ltd, of Sunbury on Thames in 1955 for F S Brandon of Berkhamstead, Hertfordshire and launched as GOLDEN ORFE. In the early 1960s E J Langford of Kensington acquired the vessel keeping her in London and changing her name to BAMBURGH. In 1965 E Harrison of Reading bought the vessel and named her BACCHANTE. D N Vaughan of Wellington, Shropshire became the fourth registered owner, a member of the Gloucester and Stourport on Severn Yacht Clubs. BACCHANTE remained in his ownership for several decades before, in new ownership being moved to the Norfolk Broads. The present owner bought BACCHANTE in 2014 following a survey. In 2017 sections of planking were replaced above the waterline, principally in the foreward sections. Further work in now required to the planking and most probably the steam bent timbers. Last ashore in 2017 and antifouled.

BACCHANTE is of carvel construction, mahogany planked, all copper through fastened to oak timbers. Oak backbone, keel and stem, mahogany transom stern. Pine laid decks, over-laid with ply having a Trakmark finish. Varnished mahogany superstructure and sheer planks. Mahogany brightwork, hatches, skylight and toe-rails.

Principally original fitted accommodation with varnished mahogany joinery, offering twin berth fore cabin, heads compartment, shower compartment. Central wheelhouse, aft saloon with dinette/ berth to port, starboard berth and aft galley with gas cooker, sink and pantry lockers. Doors to aft deck.

FLYBRIDGE HELM with spacious leisure deck. Gas bottle lockers/seats.

62hp FORD SIX CYLINDER DIESEL ENGINE, inside helm with instrumentation and engine controls.

35 gallon fuel tank, three 12 volt batteries. 240 volt shore power. 35 gallon fresh water tank.

VHF Radio, Fish Finder, Sounder, Speed Log, Stereo. Anchor Windlass, CQR Anchor. Signals Mast.
