DESCRIPTION

Gulfstar sailboats are known for quality and performance. This Gulfstar 44ft ketch is no exception. Sunshine ii has been sailed extensively though out the Caribbean for many years. She is fully equipped. Including Watermaker and generator. However, the batteries need replacing and as such this is reflected in the price. With a little TLC and love the boat is a great opportunity to own a good sized cruising boat ideal for the Caribbean and beyond. Offers welcome.

Accommodation

The layout offers up to five berths with two separate sleeping cabins. There is full standing headroom, good ventilation, and plenty of storage throughout. In the fore cabin, large V-berth, with opening hatch to foredeck. Aft of the fore cabin is the head to stb. with separate shower, sink, and marine toilet; and large hanging locker to port. This is followed by the galley with a stand-alone fridge/freezer, ample counter space and a propane cook-top to stb. To port is a micro-wave and large s/s sink. Hot and cold pressurized water. Separated by a partial bulkhead is the navigation station to port and a U-shaped, oyster colored, ultra-suede dinette to stb. with a folding table athwartship. Separating the dining area from the navigation station is the companion way ladder to the center cockpit. Aft of the navigation station is the passageway that leads to the after stateroom with access to the engine room which is situated under the cockpit. The aft stateroom is large with a double bed on centerline, an ensuite head to stb. with separate shower and a large hanging locker to port at the end of the passageway.

Mechanical Systems

Located centrally behind the companionway ladder is the large engine room. Ford Otosan diesel engine, electric start, freshwater cooled via heat exchanger. Single lever control, 4 bladed fixed prop. The engine has less than 500 hours. Adjacent to the engine is the Onan 8 kw generator and a 40 gal/hr. watermaker. Both the engine and generator draw from the 757 litre fuel tank. Various engine spares with service history.

Construction

Built in the Tampa Bay area, Florida in 1973 by Gulfstar Yachts (USA), designed by Richard Lazzara. White solid GRP hull with balsa cored deck. Encapsulated lead keel, alloy toe rails. White GRP superstructure with textured GRP decks. Center self draining cockpit, wheel steering, aluminum spars, s/s standing rigging. Engine room located under cockpit sole.

Sunshine II is US registered, EU VAT has not been paid, and there are no outstanding mortgages or encumbrances.

Sunshine II is a great boat and we have really enjoyed her.
