DESCRIPTION

Nelson£47,950

A classically styled, twin screw motorboat with excellent sea-keeping qualities. Well fitted out by the very reputable Bucklers Hard Boatyard, on the Beaulieu river, this Nelson 29, with pilothouse dinette and galley, was finished to high standards and to a more indulgent specification than a great many of her class peers. She is being offered as a very complete 'package' - including her rigid inflatable tender and its outboard engine.

This particular example of this well admired class is very nicely presented, having had a lot of good work carried out and new equipment fitted recently - making her a very appealing package. 'Nellie' is now on the market, purely due to unforeseen health circumstances.

History And Construction

Moulded by Tylers Boat Company Ltd and nicely fitted out using American Cherry by Bucklers Hard Boatyard Ltd. at a cost of over £95,000 in 1992 - and that was a lot of money then! Only three owners from new and a well respected head-turner wherever she appears.

Twin 90 BHP, naturally aspirated Ford Mermaid engines drive conventional prop. shafts via 'V'-drives giving this comfortable and capable cruiser/weekender an approx.14 knots maximum speed and an 8-10 knot economical cruising speed.

GRP construction with semi-displacement hull design and attractive dark blue hull; still in it's original gelcoat, with heavy duty fendering. Underwater sections epoxied under a surveyor's supervision and finished with Coppercoat multi-season anti-fouling protection. Treadmaster non-slip panels to side decks, forward coachroof, cockpit and for'deck.

Summer 2018  A comprehensive overhaul and update was carried out over several months including:

  • Underwater surfaces grit blasted to remove all old coatings and then epoxy coated under a surveyor's supervision. Coppercoat multi-season copper/epoxy antifouling system applied.
  • Both rudders refurbished.
  • Compound and polish blue hull.
  • All exterior wood sanded back and re-coated.
  • All coachroof windows re-sealed.
  • New for'hatch and internal trim surround fitted.
  • Refurbished hardwood flag mast involving fitting a new mast-mounting pad to coachroof.
  • New galley sink waste seacock & toilet seacock.
  • New toilet inlet and waste outlet seacocks.
