1967, remarkable boat, she has been stored under cover for the past 16 years, current owner has restored her, only some wiring and a few instruments/cooker needed. NEW MAST, BMC 35hp diesel with little use, LOVELY INTERIOR, a real gem.
MECHANICAL
BMC 4 cylinder 35HP 1500cc inboard diesel engine fitted in around 1979. Engine has been lifted out of the boat, serviced and is now fully fitted. Engine control panel with electric start. Shaft drive to 3 blade fixed propeller. Cruising speed under engine is around 5 to 5.5 knots. Morse single lever control.
NAVIGATION
Steering compass, navigation lights (port and starboard light boards to be fitted).
SAFETY
Manual bilge pump.
DECK GEAR
Galvanised pulpit, pushpit and new galvanised stanchions with guardwires, tiller steering, 2 bottom action sheet winches and one halyard winch on mast, tabernacle for mast mounting, new chain hawser, plough main anchor with chain and warp, double bow roller, mast lowering winch and wooden âAâ frame. Mooring warps and fenders.
SAILS
Tan mainsail with cream mainsail cover. Roller reefing on wooden boom. Separate hank on sails including large working Jib. Other probably original sails including white cotton genoa, tan cotton trysail and small jib. New Oregon pine mast with older stainless steel standing rigging. Mast was manufactured by local shipwright at a cost of over £2,500.
DOMESTIC
Her galley has a sink and drainer with hand pumped water supply. She has a new Jabsco marine toilet in separate heads compartment. Red vinyl upholstery with varnished floorboards.
OWNERS COMMENTS
âKittiwakeâ is a real Gem of a find. She has been under cover in current ownership and previous ownership for a total of around 16 years and in current ownership has been mostly restored. She is thoroughly original in her layout and construction, has the addition of a BMC 35HP diesel fitted in the late 1970âs but recently serviced and refitted to the boat. To an enthusiast she would be joy to add the finishing touches and enjoy sailing in such a lovely and roomy classic. Her present owner has partially re-caulked, re-fastened the garboard planking, fitted new iron keel bolts, refitted the engine and cosmetically refurbished her. Now afloat!
