Brokers Comments

Mathilda Sound is a superb looking Oyster 82, fitted out with an array of extras over and above her build specifications. She is Number 15 of a highly successful series.

Coming on board MATHILDA SOUND across the aft passerelle and on to her large open aft deck we find a classic bluewater yacht, seats are located at each quarter and the side decks are uncluttered.  Walking past the mainsheet track is easy and moving forward there are twin steering pedestal’s, helm seats and primary/secondary winches. Just one step down into the spacious cockpit that offers a generous ‘al fresco’ dining experience, and by day a large custom day bed for shaded relaxing.

Forward of the deck saloon, we find two powered lewmar winches, located on opposite sides of the mast. The spinnaker pole is stored on the front of the rig and out of the way. The 3.2-meter tender sits comfortably on removable stainless chocks mounted on the foredeck. Yachts of this size do offer models with space in the aft garage, yet, the size tender that fits there is usually too small and hoisting it onto the foredeck is the preferred option.   Two Reckmann furlers for the foresails.

We enter Mathilda Sounds interior via a traditional companionway with handrails on either side. We are immediately struck by the friendly, clean-cut, and stylish interior finished in maple. The upper saloon has a large foldaway table with ample seating for 12, where diners are offered a panoramic vista via classic Oyster styling.   To starboard, we see a spacious navigation area with an instrument panel located outboard and a comfortable navigator’s chair.

Moving aft to the owners and guest cabins through the centerline guest passageway.  On the starboard side, we see a large double (queen bed) with ample storage and a hanging locker adjacent. TV, one opening porthole in the hull and opening hatch to the deck. An en–suite shower room with stall shower, opening porthole and hatch.

Across the corridor, we see the twin cabin with matching styling that runs throughout the interior, also with TV, music, portholes that open and en-suite bathroom. Cabin has a Pullmans berth adding to the yacht's overall versatility.

The full-beam owners’ aft cabin is a glorious cabin with a King size centerline bed. Ample natural light allows one to read the papers during daylight time with no electric light switched on. Opening portholes in the hull and coamings. Two opening hatches of which one offers support for a stainless with a teak ladder to step onto the aft deck directly from your owner’s suite. This cabin offers a great bathroom with a circular stall shower, opening porthole and deck hatch.

Moving forward through the lower saloon, equipped with a high spec entertainment system, we enter a perfectly furnished and efficiently laid out galley. With all expected appliances, including a gas oven and hobs outboard and double stainless sinks inboard. A large chest freezer and double-height fridge allow for extended cruising without compromise.

At the end of the galley is the hallway to the separate crew accommodation. A captain’s cabin on starboard, with a queen-sized outboard berth that is equipped with entertainment and importantly navigation equipment. Also, in this cabin, we find opening portholes. This cabin shares the forward bathroom with the port bunk cabin. This cabin can be used for the third/fourth crew member, depending on the preferred crew profile and number. For the trouble-free 5-star sailing plus service a crew of three is ideal.

Mathilda Sound can easily be sailed and looked after by two crew and the third one adds the additional stars. Her smart sail plan allows for shorthanded sailing in safety as all sheets lead aft, beyond the guest cockpit. Due to her raised saloon, the engine room on Mathilda Sound is spacious and allows for proper maintenance on all equipment.

She is for sale since the owner has turned his attention to a larger yacht. This gives you an idea of how much the family has taken to sailing. Mathilda Sound is the perfect place to have quality time with family and friends.  The Oyster 82 offers a unique blend of comfort and seaworthiness, equally at home island sailing with charter guests or world cruising with adventurous owners.

Despite being a pre-owned vessel, she is in remarkably good condition, being maintained by a professional crew.

Build to MCA cat2.
