DESCRIPTION

Falco is a fast and capable cruiser-racer designed by the renowned Ed Dubois. The boat was built at Wauquiez Yard before it was bought out by Beneteau Group. The overall construction quality is very high, having been built to a standard much higher than many of the more modern monohull designs. She is also one of the largest ICW capable designs with a mast height less that 65ft and draft of 5.9ft.

The boat can be single handed by a competent sailor or easily double handed by a couple. She sails upwind very nicely and is very fast on a reach or downwind. The design does not cater to any rating rules so the boat has not been restricted in either speed or comfort. Underway she doesn't pound even in the steep waves out on the Gulfstream. She also performs well under power and can motor into a strong gale at a comfortable speed.

Her current owner has used her for coastal cruising and offshore trips to the Bahamas. She has been well maintained and has extensive records of service and upgrades.

Accommodations

The interior of the boat is both beautiful and functional with 3 cabins and 2 heads. Done in real wood veneer, the boat shows very well for its age. The salon and galley are together in one space, placing the cook in the social activities. The galley is equipped with a SS double basin sink with a hose sprayer and two foot pumps. The three burner Force 10 stove and oven combo is gimballed with a corian cover for added counter space. Basin type 12v Grunert Polar mate fridge / deep freezer.

There are two queen berths and a cabin with two single bunks. The bunk cabin berths are equipped with lee clothes and there are ample hand holds throughout the boat. Each berth has its own 12v electric fans for cooling.

While not a separate shower stall, the aft head has a large shower space unencumbered by the counter or head. The forward head is a standard “wet head” design. The toilets are the very reliable Lavacs brand.

Included is a large two-part canvas cover that can shade the entire boat and shelter it from rain, allowing for all hatches to be kept open in rainy / hot conditions. The A/C system was sized to handle the hottest days in Florida but currently needs to be serviced.

Sails and Rigging

The rig is a double spreader Selden with Navtec discontinuous rod rigging and twin Navtec hydraulic backstays adjusters. The North Sails furling genoa is a heavier cruising sail on a Harken roller furling system. The sheets run through Harken adjustable fairleads to the cockpit.

An additional chainplate was added to the forward bulkhead. This chainplate accommodates the baby stay in a more forward position, allowing for a 12’ dinghy to be stored on deck. The baby stay can also be used for a solent jib or storm jib.

The mainsail is a Banks dacron crosscut with 5 full length battons and a loose foot. The mainsail battens run on Harken roller cars in the mast track. The traveler is on a Harken Ball Bearing track located in the cockpit.

There is a rigid spring type vang (new in 2018) with lots of purchase and an outhaul led to the cockpit.

All of the winches on the boat are 2 speed self tailing.

There is an asymmetrical spinnaker included on the boat.

The boat has a PRHF rating of 82
