'Blue Dolphin' was part finished by J S Mouldings in 1999 and completed by P. Geldard of the Isle of Wight. This version has the extended wheelhouse and larger accommodation layout. The current owner has owned her since 2004 purchased through ourselves and she has been enthusiastically used and maintained. A development of the Alan Hill designed Newhaven Sea Warrior, the Mitchell 28 was refined and improved initially to maximise volume but her sea going pedigree and the comprehensive inventory this craft offers, will be the reason to purchase 'Blue Dolphin'. Mechanical
Single MERMAID TURBO MELODY diesel engine rated at 160bhp at 2500rpm fitted with a BORG WARNER reduction gearbox (1.586:1) connected to a conventional in-line shaft and propeller. Total engine hours are 820. The engine was removed and overhauled at 600hrs, this included head, manifold and rocker cover gasket replacement. Coolant and fuel pipes were replaced and a new turbo was fitted along with stainless steel exhaust elbow and heat exchanger. New hydraulic hoses for the steering. The shat was drawn for inspection. The engine has been reportedly regularly serviced and maintained by the current ownership. Trim Tabs. Electric Bow Thruster fitted.

Accommodation
The Mitchell 28 has a 3 berths in 2 cabins with generous headroom and includes a diesel powered Eberspacher D2 heating system supplying both cabins.
FORWARD CABIN with conventional 'V' berth format with storage areas above and below. Access to anchor locker. Deckhead hatch.
HEADS compartment with Jabsco electric toilet and corner wash hand basin (H&C).
WHEELHOUSE with helm console with pedestal seat to starboard houses all engine instrumentation, auxiliary switching and an array of electronic equipment in close proximity. To port a seating arrangement with table has a hinged backrest on the forward dual seat for the navigator. The GALLEY is cleverly arranged behind the helm and includes a Tasmin cooker, Stn Stl sink with H&C pressurised system and good storage below. The offset bulkhead door leads to the COCKPIT. A central hinged engine box allows exellent access to the engine installation for service and maintenance and the non-slip paneled deck provides access below. A seat runs across the transom providing two storage areas (P&S) for a gas locker ande rope store and a central removable panel allowing access to the transom. Cushions span the full width of the boat. A full height with windows panels. Excellent side deck access from the cockpit forward with all appropriate deck fittings and hardware. A cleverly desiged interior and cocpit layout.
The layout maximises the use of available space and this vessel will ideally suit those wishing to venture to sea or up a local creek with absolute confidence.
