The Fairline 40 is a comfortable flybridge cruiser with excellent accommodation and a reputation for good sea-keeping ideal for extended cruising, they also work well as liveaboards. Alegra is presented in very good condition for her age and has the significant advantage of having been re-engined in 2005 which should reduce maintenance and running costs when compared to similar boats of this era.

A flybridge with second helm position provides more seating. A large cockpit lazarette provides ample storage.
Mechanical Systems
Located under wheelhouse sole, twin Perkins Sabre turbocharged 225hp marine diesel engines (new 2005). Freshwater cooled via heat exchangers. Dual single lever controls at both helms. Wheel steering. Shaft drive via gearboxes to bronze three-bladed propellers (new shafts, propellers and cutlass bearings 2015). 2 x Stainless steel 636 litre fuel tanks (new 2010). Volvo Penta upgraded fuel filters. Full engine instrumentation including temperature, oil pressure, volt, revs and fuel gauges. Lewmar bow thruster for easy marina maneuvering with controls at both helms.
The engines have run for approximatley 480hrs since new (as of May 2021), were last serviced in August 2020 and are in very good running order. Although originally designed as fast cruising boats most owners are now operating at displacement speeds for economy, and their underwater profile with long keel section aft suits this usage well. Similar boats have reported good fuel economy at lower speeds, and she is expected to use around 10 litres per hour when cruising at 7-8kts in reasonable conditions, but no accurate figures are available.
Electrical Systems
5 x 12v Batteries (all new 2020) charged via engine alternators. Dedicated generator start battery (new 2019). Shorepower system with ring mains, immersion coil for water heating, and battery charger. Northern Lights 9kva generator with remote start which is showing that it has run for 55 hours since new (last serviced 2019). Electrical distribution panel. Full cabin lighting upgraded to LED bulbs.

Construction
Fairline 40 built in 1980 by Fairline Boats Ltd. to a John Bennett design. White GRP hull with blue styling stripe, superstructure, and decks with moulded non-slip surfaces. GRP radar arch and bathing platform. Dual helm wheel steering to bronze rudders.
Alegra appears to be in very good condition for her age, benefitting from many important upgrades and having clearly been well cared for across the years.
