Banham Discovery for sale in United Kingdom

Built in 1969 by Banhams for Belaugh Boats in Norfolk. This is an early version of the Banhams Discovery 33 with GRP hull and timber cabin. This craft has the original accommodation layout with some updating while retaining much of the 1960s feel with plenty of varnished mahogany. There are two separate two berth cabins with their own toilet facilities and a central wheelhouse with a fifth convertible settee bunk. The fore cabin has offset V bunks for two with storage and drawers under. A hanging wardrobe and toilet compartment with pumpout toilet and hand basin. The central wheelhouse/saloon with engine under has a full length sliding roof - ideal for sunny days, with port and starboard entry hatches with entry steps for use in inclement weather. The port steps convert to a helmsman's seat. There is a 6ft settee that can be extended to make a full width bunk and plenty of floor space with folding table, shelving and storage for ropes etc. The galley is aft of the saloon with sink, oven with two burner hob and cupboards. Waeco coolbox is fitted under the sink. Opposite is a second toilet compartment with thermostatic shower, hand basin and cassette toilet. Hot and cold water throughout is provided from a calorifier heated from the engine. Aft cabin with two bunks with drawers under, a central three drawer cabinet and open hanging space. The fixed cabin sides are solid mahogany, the sliding wheelhouse section, roof and deck are plywood. Deck and roof are covered with painted Trakmark. The craft has been kept under an overall cover when not in use and the varnish is in reasonable condition. Much of the varnish work has been recoated this season. There has been a number of replacement sections fitted into the timber in previous years. Additional timber work and general improvements have been made by the present owner of 11 years. Further work is required to make the cabin totally dry. A small amount of compatible replacement timber is included in the sale. Two of the triplex type windows have cracks on one of the layers.
