A charming mid century cruiser

Built in the mid nineteen fifties of mahogany on oak, this Powells launch is one of few available of this design. Powells were a popular yard on the Norfolk Broads and built many boats for private and fleet owners.

I love the open feel of the cockpit and the bright spacious day cabin. Built primarily for day use there is in fact a good sofa/berth on the starboard side. As you come down into the cabin area from the aft cockpit the good sized heads are to port. There is room to prepare food and sit to eat or socialise around the folding table which has an ingenious design, folding to hang on the bulkhead out of the way as you come into the cabin from the companionway. The boat has dual controls and can also be driven from the wheel on the port side at the front of the cabin.

The current owner has replaced the carpets and soft furnishings in the cabin while adding directors style chairs for open seating in the aft cockpit. There is a full length winter cover.

Previously known as Millstream the boat was previously owned by the same riparian family for many years and possibly since it was new. It was they who changed the engine to a modern diesel some years ago. The BSS certificate is valid to April 2020 and the boat has a current EA licence. There is a possibility that a new owner could take over the central Henley mooring by separate negotiation. There is also a covered boathouse mooring available in Benson should this be an attractive prospect for a purchaser.
