DESCRIPTION

COASTAL QUEEN is a truly Vintage, Chesapeake Buy Boat. Vintage defines any product that grows finer and more valuable over time and without a doubt, COASTAL QUEEN embodies this distinction. Originally built in 1928 by A.V. Price in Maryland and professionally operated as an oyster buy boat until 1958, she was purchased by boatbuilder and yachtsman Slade Dale, converted into a cruising yacht and renamed, COASTAL QUEEN. Since then she has lived her name to the fullest, plying the waters from the Bahamas to Eastern Maine, St. Lawrence Seaway and Mississippi River, turning heads in every port of call.

25 years ago she was purchased by an extremely accomplished racing sailor, as the ‘mothership’ for his yacht. In short order, she became the mothership of the Fleet, and the social hub of every regatta she attended!

The iconic Coastal Queen at 90 years old, has a fully sound wood hull and structure, proven machinery, modern electronics and three decks of gracious accommodations. She is indeed, a Vintage yacht that has matured to near perfection through the years.

Accommodations

The PILOTHOUSE is at the forward end of the upper deck, with access doors port and starboard, helm and controls surrounded by well-placed instrumentation and electronics, exceptional 240 degree visibility, comfortable forward facing seating and a pilot berth aft of the helm.  The wheel, controls and electronics are a magnificent blend of state of the art, with original ‘cable’ handling systems beautifully preserved in varnished joinerwork.
The upper deck surrounds the pilothouse, with stairs down the foredeck and access port and starboard to the covered upper deck and the ‘Fantail’ aft.
The MASTER STATEROOM is aft on the upper deck, with a queen size berth, bureau, hanging locker, writing desk and ensuite head with stall shower.  The stateroom is fully air conditioned, has a flat screen TV and large windows with privacy screens, offering great visibility and cross ventilation.
The Master Stateroom opens directly to THE FANTAIL, the upper deck entertaining area furnished with wicker seating, a fully stocked bar area, freezer and wine chiller.  The Fantail is the social hub of the yacht, well placed for taking in the sights and best libations enroute.
The MAIN SALON is at the forward end of the cabin house on deck level, accessed by doors to the port and starboard covered side decks.  Forward, below the full row of windows, an oversize “U” shaped settee can seat 10-12 guests. Aft to starboard in the salon, there is a dinette that seats four, which can extend to seat 6 for dining.  With the forward doors, galley access aft and a large opening window forward, cross ventilation in this area is excellent in addition to the full air conditioning.  The salon also has a flat screen Television with swivel mounts and Satellite TV.
The GALLEY is aft of the salon and full-width, also with access doors to the side decks to set up excellent cross ventilation.  Equipment includes a Wolf professional propane stove and Pro GE combination oven/convection oven, microwave oven, full size sink and faucets, Miele dishwasher, an abundance of counter space for food preparation and bussing and plenty of drawer and locker stowage for china, glassware & serving ware.  Indeed, her current chef routinely prepares meals for 15-20 guests and the yacht regularly hosts parties for 50+ people.  COASTAL QUEEN is a very social yacht indeed!
Aft on the main deck, the NEWPORT SUITE has large twin berths, a writing desk, large windows with privacy screens, and stowage in drawers, shelves and hanging locker.  The stateroom is fully air conditioned and has an ensuite head with stall shower.
Just forward of the cabin house on the foredeck, the THIRD STATEROOM is accessed via the companionway and steps to port, leading to the cabin below which has three single berths, additional stowage and a separate head.  The crew cabin forward in the focs’le, is also accessed via this area.

Broker's Comments

At 90 years old, COASTAL QUEEN is fully found and elegant in all her manifestations.  She is ideally suited as a family cruising yacht, charter yacht, a mother ship for a racing program - or a summer home anywhere you choose to drop anchor!  She has had the same Captain since 1985 and owners who allowed him to treat the ‘QUEEN’ as she deserves.  Consequently, her magnificent vintage continues to mature!
