Overall Description

The jewel in the crown of the Catana yard, the Catana 70 will seduce the sportsmen looking for feel and adrenaline, as much as the connoisseurs looking to embark on a long trip in total refinement.

Seen from the outside, the Catana 70 is equipped with revolutionary new curved daggerboards, which give a hydrofoil effect. It benefits also from good hull length and increased power, creating an ultra-performance cruising catamaran.

The sailplan has all the features of a racing boat, with a short mainsail which is easy to handle and a large headsail combining to give the Catana 70 unrivalled performance.

Seen from the inside, the Catana C70 has been entirely redesigned for maximum comfort.

Offering even more living space than all the other models, the Catana 70 has spacious cabins as well as many lockers and storage areas ensuring optimal conditions for a long trip.

This yacht was built in 2015 for an owner with a big yacht racing history, keen to realise a dream of a circumnavigation. In this respect, the yacht has many extras and equipment from the build stage to make this a reality, with the trip completed in early 2017.

Detailed Description of Arcadia 5 – Construction and Equipment

ARCADIA V is a twin-screw sail catamaran of Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP) Carbon reinforced construction (both hull & superstructure) built in France in early 2015. The vessel is CE certified up to Category A being able to accommodate up to twelve (12) passengers or 2260kg aggregate.

A Full carbon fibre lamination joint is applied for the main bulkheads and floor frames.

The yacht has in total four (4) cabins including master bedroom, able to accommodate ten (10) persons for overnight voyages.

The yacht is powered by two (2) fresh water cooled, turbocharged Yanmar 4LHA-STP diesel engines of a total power of 280kW, each engine being coupled to a ZF 63-A reverse reduction marine gearbox of a ratio of 2.5:1. Each gearbox drives a stainless steel shaft passing through bronze stern brackets before attaching to four (4) bladed folding type propellers.

Two (2) Cummins Onan diesel generators of 13.5kW and 7.0kW provide single phase power of 220V / 50Hz / 58A and 30A respectively. Shore power connection for 220V/50Hz also available as well as eight (8) batteries for house loads on a 24V DC system. Battery charging is achieved via main engines 24V alternators, shore power diesel gensets and solar panels fitted on deck and charge management is regulated through battery chargers serving starting and accessories battery banks.

The yacht is equipped with two daggerboards (retractable fins) on PORT and STBD side and two bow thrusters fitted one in each hull.

The running rigging is controllable from the cockpit and consists of the following: a Mainsail halyard / Mainsail sheeting system / Genoa halyard / Genoa sheets / Genoa furler line / Luff reefing lines / Tack reefing lines / Topping lift and daggerboards control lines, Gennaker and Staysail.

The standing riggings consists of the following: - 30m Carbon fibre Axxon mast / Outlets for main sail, genoa, solent, spinnaker halyards and topping lift, Combo steaming light and deck light, Main sail luff batt-car system , Lazy Jacks padeyes, Double windvane on mast head, White lacquered aluminium boom with spacers, Reefing lines blocks, White lacquered aluminium front beam, White lacquered aluminium compression beam, 1x Forestay in stainless steel rod (Genoa or Solent), 1x Inox rod furler, 2x Upper shrouds in stranded stainless steel, 2x Inner shrouds in stranded stainless steel and a removable furler.

The cockpit deck comprises of the following: Full width sliding door (3 sliding casements) in glass and anthracite aluminum with multi-position lock. Possibility to have the cockpit and the saloon in a fully ‘Open Space’ on the same floor level.

Three (3) big storage hatches in the aft beam seat. Cockpit area with composite seats (meal/relaxation convertible with storage) and 4 cockpit table with removable plate.

Structural bimini on roof level, with opening panel for ventilation and front sails visibility. A pair of lacquered aluminium davits with stoppers and lifting lines stainless steel shackles snap. Cockpit cushions in Skai material.

On the cockpit PORT and STBD side there are two helm stations fitted with 2x CATANA-design GRP pulpits, 2x GRP retractable seats (stand and seat positions) with stainless steel handrail on top and batyline cushions, 2x Magnetic compasses with correction, light and protection cover, 2x Carbon fiber steering wheels, 2x Balanced spade rudders mounted with JP3 self-aligning bushes, 1 Emergency tiller, helm system with vectran purchase and track with balls.

The main cabin and the accommodation have been fitted with large furniture panels in very light and rigid sandwich construction. Carpentries are in cedar wood.

Saloon seats meal/relaxation convertible with storage, cushions in high-resilient foam with Alcantara fabrics, dining table, convertible, 3x chairs in aluminium-teak, numerous storage with wine cooler, hand rails in each hull step and LED lights with dimmer.

Galley has been equipped with numerous storage lockers / Resin and stainless steel sink (one and half sink) with resin cover/chopping board, 2x stainless steel refrigerators and a deep freezer, mixer tap with ceramic seals for fresh and hot water, ceramic hob and oven, LED lights with dimmer. An ice maker has also been fitted on the galley island bar facing the cockpit.

There is one central air conditioning unit of 50,000BTU installed in the STBD engine space serving all the internal spaces, with each cabin having its own controller.

The yacht has also been equipped with, stereo speakers, CD/DVD player, 40” TV sets, KVH satellite TV receiver.
