Ta-Yang in Taiwan has built over 1400 ‘blue water’ Tayana cruising yachts since their inception in 1973. This popularity has been the result of their continued commitment to: outstanding styling, live aboard comfort, and safety at sea for every Tayana owner. In addition, they have a reputation for elegant custom interiors not found in other production boats. Freya of Clyde is no exception. Her owners have called Freya home for some 15 years and have sailed her from Canada to Guyana with many stops along the way. They report that she is seaworthy, comfortable, and easily handled by one or two people; a fast passage maker, with good stability and generous living accommodations. The attention to detail and commitment to scheduled maintenance is evident throughout. Light and bright below with plenty of storage, well organized with uncluttered decks topside—a proven cruising yacht that is well equipped and ready for her next adventure. Freya comes with her own mooring off Hog Island in Grenada.

Freya is the ‘aft cockpit’ version with an interior layout that is very straight forward. Starting at the bow there is a large storage forepeak locker, with a below-deck chain locker, followed by a double Pullman berth to port and a bench/storage area to starboard. Working aft, the head is to port with a ‘designer’ sink, Lavac marine manual toilet, and shower; both sink and shower have hot and cold pressurized water. To starboard is a large hanging locker. This is followed by the saloon which has a small ‘U’ settee to port which can make into a double berth and a large ‘L’ settee to starboard with a spacious table. A partial separating bulkhead and step-up leads to the galley to starboard and navigation station with bench seat to port. Twin s/s sinks with lots of counter space, pressurized hot and cold fresh water plus a pressurized salt water faucet, gimballed 3 burner gourmet cooker followed by a top and side loading fridge. Aft of this work area, step down to a small cabin both port and starboard separated by the companionway ladder to the cockpit. Quarter berth in the port cabin and a pantry/storage area with freezer to starboard. On deck, all the lines lead to the cockpit for ease of handling. Cockpit cushions, water proof bimini with side curtains and full mosquito net further enhances Freya’s appeal.
Located centrally in the saloon, under the galley/nav sole is the Yanmar 4JH4E four cylinder 54hp diesel engine (2004). Electric start. Fresh water cooled via heat exchanger Shaft drive to three blade s/s Martex feathering propeller. Single lever control, 2 x Racor fuel filters switchable between the two fuel tanks. Various engine spares last serviced in 2015 with 2500 engine hours. Full-service history. Portable Honda 2000i generator. 13 gal/hr Echo-Tec watermaker (newly installed motor).
Mast head cutter rigged. Anodised aluminium mast (keel stepped) and boom by Isomat. Stainless steel standing rigging (2007). Slab reefing mainsail with stack-pack & lazy jacks. Mast steps from boom to top of mast. Furlex head sail furling system, Harkin staysail furling system, Harken traveler. Isolated backstay, static dispenser at top of mast. Adjustable Spinnaker pole.
