The aerofoil Swing Keel is cast iron and incorporates a stainless steel pivot at the leading edge.
The Swing Keel is raised and lowered by a hydraulic ram powered by an electrically driven pump with a hand operated back-up. All the hydraulics are easily accessible for any routine maintenance.
