DESCRIPTION

Remarks : The Nicholson 31 is a heavy displacement cruiser built by the popular builder Camper & Nicholson to a Raymond Wall design. Built between 1976 and 1980 they proved popular and 119 were built. "Barquito" was built in 1977 and is hull no 39. They are very attractive boats with beautiful lines. Long heavy displacement keel make the boat stiff yet responsive on the transom and keel mounted tiller. The big selling point is the brand new Z-Spars rig and new standing rigging which was introduced in September 2016. During her life she has been regularly upgraded including new main and furling genoa in 2012. Excellent electronic navigation package including Wind speed/direction, Navtex, DSC VHF, Autopilot, Speed/Depth/Log and GPS. Below decks is comfortable and can sleep 5/6 persons. Pansy charcoal burning stove provides efficient heating system. Accommodation : Below decks is light and bright thanks to the port lights and deck hatches. Normally boats from the 70's can be dark and dinghy affairs but this is very nice indeed. The galley is to port and includes a virtually brand new gas oven with 2-burner hob and grill. If you look at the photos the oven tray and grill pan are still in the packaging. The oven was replaced in 2014 and all associated pipework valve and regulator. Stainless steel double sink with battery saving foot pumped fresh water. Top loading ice box built into counter top. Plentiful storage. Opposite galley is the chart table/navigation centre with switch panel and reading light. The electronic navigation aids were upgraded in 2004. At chart table there is a monochrome Raymarine radar, Navtex, Simrad DSC VHF and Raytheon GPS. Standard saloon layout with upholstered settee/berths port and starboard of saloon table. The extending table is slightly offset to port to allow easy access forward. An additional berth is located above the port side berth and above the starboard berth is hull mounted storage. Excellent drinks cabinet with bottle and glass storage. Forward of the saloon bulkhead is the heads with marine toilet and wet locker behind.. Opposite is the sink with vanity unit above and storage below. The heads is separated from the main saloon and the forward cabin by space saving sliding doors. Forecabin with double berth and opening roof hatch for light and ventilation. Boat kept cosy by extremely efficient Pansy Charcoal heater. Inventory : Well equipped yacht for coastal or offshore cruising. Included in sale are: Bulkhead compass Raymarine ST60 Tri-Data log/speed/depth Raymarine ST60 wind speed/direction Raymarine ST4000+ autopilot Raytheon RN300 GPS (new aerial 2014) Simrad RD68 DSC VHF ( new aerial 2014) Target Navtex Pro-plus 12V supply for laptop connection Navigation lights (Tricolour mast head light) Radar reflector Anchor with chain and warp Spare anchor Daylight shapes Gas detector Carbon monoxide detector Life raft (requires service) Flares Horn Zodiac Cadet dinghy Honda 2hp outboard (2014) Manual bilge pump Warps and fenders Sprayhood and dodgers Clock and Barometer Cockpit winter cover Radio cassette player with speakers Danbuoy 2 off Dry powder fire extinguishers Fire blanket Life buoy Flare pack Life jackets Nicholson original plates/cups Safety harness Courtesy flags Ensign and staff  Mechanical and Rigging : Construction: GRP constructed yacht with heavy lay up. Long keel with internal ballast. Underwater areas epoxied in 1986 Beige GRP topsides with smart red contrasting boot top and cove line stripe. Large cockpit with teak grate sole and storage lockers. Tiller steering with transom and keel mounted rudder. Wide side decks allow easy access around the decks. Stainless steel push and pulpit rails joined by stanchions and double set guard wires. Teak toe rail and grab handles on coach roof. Lots of light and ventilation from 2 deck mounted hatches and cowl vents. Engine & Electrics: Vessel powered by an inboard diesel Yanmar 3GM30F. This 27hp unit offers both economy and reliability and has been regularly maintained. The engine was overhauled in 2005 and a new gearbox was fitted. At the same time the propeller was changed to a new one. New cutlass bearing fitted 2008. 12V system with bank of three batteries fitted with isolators. These provide dedicated engine start and domestic power. Batteries recharged via engine alternator. There is a shore power cable for use when in a marina. Sails & Rigging: Bermudan masthead sloop rigged yacht with keel stepped aluminium spars. New Z-Spars aluminium mast introduced 2016. The standing rigging had been replaced in 2014 so this was transferred from the old mast to the new. The boom had previously been replaced in 2006 for the purposes of slab reefing. Running rigging has been replaced on a preventative maintenance cycle and is in good order. Vessel rigged for spinnaker including new halyard and spinnaker pole. Rigged for single or short handed sailing most lines are led aft to helm. The mainsheet track is mounted to the rear of the cockpit for greater control. Genoa travellers fitted on side decks. Lewmar self tailing sheet winches. Mainsail and jib are by Hood and replaced in 2012. Also included are a little used storm jib from 1998 and a genoa from 2000 and a blade sail of unknown age.
