Ready to Enjoy. Outstanding Condition.
This Kalik 40 is a modern classic with outstanding good looks and is a fast passage maker.
Maintained and largely renewed irrespective of cost. A very experienced and meticulous owner has, over 25 years of ownership, improved this yacht to a very high standard allowing his wife and himself to undertake extended sailing for 2 people sailing comfortably in winds from 5 to 50 knots.
Recent improvements include electric winches with foot controls making single-handed tacking very easy. Plus a new set of covers and (in 2021) engine service, gas certificate and anti-foul.
In addition, this Kalik 40 benefits from having an immaculate interior due to upgrading with improved headlining, lights, curtains, cushions and a teak and holly cabin sole. These all received the owner's exceptional attention to detail and have been done to a very high standard.
Surveyed in Spring 2018 for insurance purposes this is a very significant and capable yacht - and outstanding value for money.
All Kalik 40 yachts were designed by Gary Mall and built to Lloyd's 100A1 standard. The current owner has maintained and refurbished this vessel to that standard. Below the waterline gelcoat grit blasted, gelcoat replaced and, as a defensive measure, 5 coats of epoxy applied.
Starting from fore-peak, a V berth with an infill piece to make it a double, with new cushions and lockers above and below the bunks. Moving aft, heads and a shower to port with full-length hanging locker to starboard with small dresser and mirror plus drawers and locker. A door makes this en-suite.
Moving further aft the saloon is completed in teak veneer, settee extendable into a cosy double on the port side with a pin rail bookshelf above, plus drinks cabinet and CD player/radio plus twin speakers. On the starboard side is a settee/single berth with TV in a teak locker above. A well-equipped galley is on the port side.
Further aft there is a double cabin port side with hanging locker and a large storage shelf. Next to the companionway is a heads and oilskin locker
The main bulkhead in the saloon has 2 brass oil lamps, clock and barometer. The table can seat 6 when folded out. All cushions in the fore peak and saloon are as new.
The chart table can take a full size yacht sailing chart with instruments starboard side and a useful chart locker underneath the folding lid. The vessel will be sold with full charts for the Solent, south coast and the north coast of France down as far as Brest.
The Eberspacher heating system has a separate fuel tank using road, not marine, diesel.
The List of Work done by the owner over the years is extensive and includes but is not limited to:
In 2011 the customised mast was dry-painted with all-new running rigging and furling gear fitted.
In 2011 a new engine and gearbox were fitted with about 750 hours of use to date.
At that time, beneath the waterline, the gelcoat was replaced and 5 coats of epoxy added as a preventative measure.
Also, largely refurbished teak decks, new hatches throughout, mast step and bilge Webbers, stringers, pipes, wiring and pumps etc replaced.
In 2019 a new set of covers were made and fitted by Kemp sails.
In 2019 new electric winches were fitted in the cockpit with foot controls to make single-handed tacking very easy.
(On deck there are two Lewmar two speed winches plus three winches on the mast and a further three in the cockpit).
Also, in addition to the sails listed, there is a cruising chute plus a solent blade and a storm foresail.
The owner works from home so is available on his mobile for detailed telephone conversations as needed since the boat is moored adjacent to their house.
