Dufour 31 - 1979 - £16,750
A spacious yacht designed for safe and comfortable cruising and offering well designed accommodation for six. Offering the benefits of the bulbed shoal draught keel and a replacement engine, 'Rusalka' has been in current ownership for sixteen years and has been regularly and assiduously maintained.
Her accommodation offers remarkably good volume, is light and is warmly finished using genuine wood veneers and velour covered deep foam cushions. A lot of boat that has been cruised by a capable retired couple, but would suit equally a young family that will need room to grow.
Six berths and particularly good headroom.
Saloon: 'L' shaped seating to starboard that can be converted to a double berth in conjunction with the table, with a single settee berth to port with fitted lee cloth. Good light levels, with relatively large, fixed coachroof side windows and a large opening hatch over the table.
Chart table: to port with chart stowage within and pilot book/manuals stowage above quarterberth.
Galley: to starboard with Eno three burner cooker and oven, stainless steel sink, large original cool box (currently used for dry bulk storage), supplemented by a top-access Waeco 12v DC fridge. Crockery, cutlery and pots and pans included.
Heads compartment: with Brydon sea toilet (new service kit fitted in 2018), and wash basin opposite. Large hanging locker outboard, beneath the side deck.
Forward cabin: with two berths and infill, locker and shelves and supplementary closed lockers within the shelves.
Forward cabin bedding is included in the sale
LED cabin lighting throughout. Goodmans CD player/radio and compact 12v DC TV/DVD player to be included in sale.
Volvowith a top-end overhaul in 2017, when the head was skimmed, new gaskets, valves and injectors fitted. A new exhaust elbow also fitted at this time. The engine drives a fixed, 2 bladed propeller through a conventional stainless steel shaft, with PSS drip-less stern seal fitted.
Fuel capacity: approx 45 litres in a stainless steel tank
Water capacity: approx 120 litres.
2 x Numax 110 A/hr batteries (new in 2017) are charged by a number of different systems, namely:
Wind generator
27W flexible PV (solar) panel in addition to a 20W rigid panel.
Quick Energy 12A battery charger with two outputs. 220-240V, 13A outlets are fitted in the accommodation spaces.
LED cabin lighting throughout, with the exception of above the hand basin, within the heads compartment.
Simrad TP20 autopilot.
Two CQR 25lbs anchors.
Fortress 6-16 aluminium Danforth-style anchor.
Lewmar 40 2-speed primary sheet winches.
Sprayhood (2014) with stainless steel grab handle to rear edge.
Mainsail cover.
Cockpit sun awning (supported from twin backstays and sprayhood grab rail - you can sail with it up)
Cockpit table
4 x individual cockpit cushions.
Hardwood cockpit grating.
Tiller with extension by RWO and acrylic protective cover.
Minimum of 6 mooring lines.
Minimum of 6 fenders with fender socks.
Ensign and staff.
Inflatable dinghy.
3.3hp outboard engine
Winter storage cradle for the vessel.
Sloop rig with alloy mast and boom. The mast (by Selden) dates from 2001 and the boom has been converted to accommodate two slab reefs for the mainsail. The main halyard has been brought aft to the cockpit, while the headsail halyard remains winched and cleated on the mast.
Mainsail cover (new in 2014).
The stainless steel standing rigging dates from 2001 and the Furlex roller reefing system was fitted in 1997.
Sail Wardrobe includes:
Mainsail with two single line reefing systems.
Roller furling Genoa.
Cruising chute with snuffer.
Storm jib (hanked).
A highly successful model, over 900 of the Dufour 31's sold from 1973 onward. With hull, deck and superstructure designed by Michel Dufour. They were considered to be cruiser racers of their day and with their masthead rig they still represent a surprisingly fast cruiser with immense volume. This particular example (hull No. 556) offers the benefit of the shoal draft fin keel option.
'Rusalka's underwater sections were epoxy-coated in 1995, the same year in which the current, indirectly-cooled engine was fitted. The current Selden mast dates from 2001 and the original roller reefing system for reefing the mainsail has been replaced by a twin single-line slab reefing system.
