Retta is a masthead sloop with a shallow-draft full keel and centerboard, and draws only 3’6” with the board up. The boat has been well taken care of and has undergone many updates over the years, including a mast refit in 2013. The engine is a late 1980’s 25 hp Universal diesel that is still rock solid. The 25 hp M4-30 is a BIG engine for a boat this size, and when combined with Retta's long and narrow bow overhang, she can plow through heavy chop at the Clear Lake channel entrance when bigger boats are turning back.
She is a fine example of this well designed and built bay and near-shore cruiser. Her shallow keel and centerboard set up allows you to sail during the winter months when other boats are stranded by shallow water. This is a great boat for learning how to sail! The traditional narrow hull and tiller steering give a lot of feedback, but at the same time the boat is very stable.
She is beautifully presented, has diesel power, roller furling headsail, good accommodation, and best of all, is a Pearson.
