Owner's Comments

General
Meanderer is 40 years old and for the last 20 years has been used for up to 10 months a year but never less than 6 months. It has been repaired and maintained to a high standard to keep it up to making ocean voyages. Safety and usefulness do come before cosmetic matters.
We plan to continue using her for 4 or 5 months a year for the foreseeable future.
NAVIGATION
The B & G suite of navigation equipment uses all N2K interconnections except for the autopilot operation. To save money after our lightning strike in 2014, we used the original Simrad course computer to work the Neco autopilot. This is not compatible with the B & G equipment because it uses NMEA 0183, however, as the Simrad has its own compass it does work well independently from the B & G.
We are planning to buy and install the B & G N2K course computer this summer to complete the system. £1,500 installed.
CANVAS, UPHOLSTERY AND CURTAINS
The canvas covers are serviceable but need regular re-stitching due to the ultra violet light in the Med.
Some of the original mattress and seatbacks really need replacing. £2,000. The original HR corduroy has done well over 40 years, but is very expensive.
Some of the blue woven gingham curtains need to be replaced due to the ultra violet light. About £500 for a new stock of the fabric.
GALLEY
One of the three burners on the cooker has developed a fault and has been isolated from the gas. The two remaining rings, the grill and oven are all working well. A new installed Force 10 cooker would cost £1,700.
The original Canadian Force 10 company sold out to EOS in France a few years ago. The new French ones look fantastic but the materials used are inferior and reports are not good. The UK agent says there is a market for second hand original Canadian ones.
