This vessel was SOLD on December 17. This catamaran south of Boston near Cape Cod is ready to cruise in spacious comfort. Constructed in South Africa by Charter Cats SA, she was delivered on a shakedown cruise to the Galveston Texas area for the first owner who never ended up using the boat. The hull is light and strong and very elegantly designed. Due to the high strength of quadrxial glass and 3/4 inch balsa coring, the hull sides are so strong they feel like a solid wall. The hardtop over the cockpit was added 2 years ago replacing the original canvas bimini. It is strong enough to walk on giving access to the entire boom making the raising and lowering of the mainsail easier. The whole boat can stand comfortably in its keels while hauled out or even simply run up on a beach. It only draws 3 feet 3 inches. Sailing performance is excellent due to the light weight and smooth hulls. Even with the moderate weight of cruising equipment onboard, one owner has gotten the boat to 12.5 knots on a beam reach in moderate winds.miles a day has been commonplace. There are acres of deck space topsides with wide enough decks to setup deck chairs. The main salon flush with the cockpit has 2 sliding aluminum and glass doors opening up to the cockpit. The molded semi-circular seating is forward of the large dinette table. The cushions remove to access large storage areas underneath. The standing height of the main salon is 6'2". This very large salon connecting the hulls has 5 recessed halogen down-lights with dimmers. There are 2 halogen floodlights. With the two sliding doors open to the cockpit, the salon has a very open and airy atmosphere and there is an abundance of natural light with 2 large opening Lewmar hatches with insect screens along with 2 two-part large fixed windows of tinted Lexan. Below decks is equally spacious with four double cabins, all private, any of which can be assigned to cargo storage. The main salon can easily sleep an additional 2 people. The four double cabins each have a fan, light, shelves/cabinets and hooks. There is plenty of ventilation in each with an opening portlight and large Lewmar opening hatches with insect screens. There are 2 watertight crash bulkheads on each hull. The port hull has the galley with loads of storage and countertop, 4 burner propane Bosch stovetop, microwave and large single bay sink with pressurized hot and cold water. There is a 12v 140-liter fridge, including 22-liter freezer. There are 2 Mermaid 3000 BTU air conditioning units that operate dockside only. The current owner never used them as he kept the boat on a mooring. The starboard hull with two double berths forward and aft has a sink and vanity in the forward berth and full head before the aft berth, similar to the port hull. But this hull has the nav station with a full array of electronics including the following: -Winchrite, battery-powered attaches to deck winch to raise the mainsail. -Fixed-mount VHF radio with Shakespeare masthead whip antenna. -AM/FM/CD player with speakers in the salon. -Autohelm ST5000+ hydraulic autopilot, with rudder indicator and remote control. -Autohelm ST50 wind. -Autohelm ST50 Tridata. -Furuno 1621 mkII 2KW 16nm radar, the radome at spreaders. -Standard LH-5 hailer with a speaker at spreaders. -Interphase SeaScout forward- and downward-scanning sonar. -Garmin 225D GPS Chartplotter with 16-color 640x480 display and DGPS. -Radar, sonar, GPS, and autopilot all interfaced via NMEA. -All instruments other than the GPS are viewable/usable at the helm. The sails and rigging include the custom single-spreader aluminum mast (43'6" height off the deck) with Awlgrip finish and 3/16 stainless steel standing rigging. The genoa uses a Pro-Furl roller furler and 2 Lewmar ST 40 self-tailing winches for trimming with 10" aluminum locking handles. There are 2 Lewmar 4-sheave deck organizers and 2 XT rope clutches. All halyards, sheets and reefing lines lead to the clutches and winches. There is also a storm jib when it really starts to blow. The mainsail is fully battened with 3 integrated reef points. It tucks away easily using lazy jacks and a stack pack system. When sailing off the wind you can fly the Quantum tri-radial gennaker (aka flasher) with a sock (aka stasher). The ground tackle includes a 48 pound 316 stainless plow on a locking bow roller, 20' of chain plus 250' of 3/4 line. Also, a 44-pound steel Bruce anchor, 20' chain and 200' 5/8" line. Both anchors are attached to rodes via high-strength stainless swivels. The bow spar has welded horn cleats for attaching an anchor bridle. There are full hot and cold water circuits to the 5 sinks: galley, both aft cabins and both heads. The water pump pushes 3.8 GPM with strainer, press, switch and a 1-gallon accumulator. The bilges can be kept clear with the following: -2 whale manual bilge pumps, drawing from midships bilges. -2 Rule 500GPH pumps with float switches, drawing from head bilges. -2 Rule 1000GPH pumps with electronic sensors, drawing from midships bilges. -2 Rule 2000GPH pumps with electronic sensors, drawing from engine-room bilges.
